I hate Migraines!!! I post awhile back about my daughter get the Daith piercing and how it helped her migraines. Well, she has missed 5 days in the last two weeks because of migraines. Even with a 504 in place, it is still hard for her to feel like she is caught up with classes. We are going into the 5th week of our 5th six weeks. 2 weeks to catch everything up. So, did the Daith piercing work? Yes, for the right sided migraines. However, the guy who did her piercing is not currently where he was. Now I have to find another guy.
This has made her senior year miserable at times. I don't even look at the progress reports right now. But mom has to get the can do attitude and quit having the defeated mentality.
Anyway, I guess I needed to vent.
Thanks for listening.

you've got me very intrigued now. Is it only certain body piercers that do that particular piercing?

I'm sorry. That has to be very frustrating.
I've heard similar stories from others who got the daith piercing for migraines, but some relief is better than none right?
Sending some positive can do vibes your way!

I'm so sorry, I cannot even imagine. I suffer from migraine headaches as well, but thankfully I only get them every couple years, and trust me, that is PLENTY. I cannot even imagine what your poor daughter is going through.
There are plenty of people who can do them, but I am very picky. I looked into the piercing for months before I went and had it done. I went to one tattoo shop that did them and did not have a good feeling (they also charged double what the other shops are charging), so we waited. That's when a trusted friend went to the guy that did her first one and had a good experience. He was really good with my daughter and she wanted to go back if we needed to get the one done. Now he is not at that same shop. I am currently looking into another place to get the other ear done.

Doesn't her 504 afford the possibility of extending her due dates? I know how hard it is to make up work while doing current work but seems like there should be some flexibility, maybe waiving some stuff once she can demonstrate mastery?
Yes we have some things in place. Just when you have missed 8 day in 2 wks its tough. I will get with her counselor and see what can be accommodated further. Her teachers are being great, but this momma knowing the 6 wks is almost up is stressing. Girl's gotta graduate.

My oldest has suffered with migraines for several years, I know how frustrating it can be. Tell her to hang in there.
It is so hard when they are a senior, so little wiggle room.

I helped a student with terrible migraines through her senior year on a 504. That poor girl missed so much school. We came up with make-up plans that involved waiving some classwork and focusing on assignments to demonstrate knowledge. Make-up tests/regular tests were limited to one per day.
That student found relief after trying botox. No medical advice here, per TOS, but it was a game changer for her when she finally got the first appointment during the second half of her senior year. Student is sophomore in college now and botox is still helping, thankfully.
My Daughter's teachers are working with her and I have talked with the principal. We went to the dr today and he has changed her meds up a little. He did mention the botox, but we are not at that stage yet. I will get the right ear piercing as soon as the funds come in since it has helped with part of her migraines.
Thank you all for the support.
