what's EPN? after 33 years as a LPN (I became one at 18) I've decided at age 51 with everyone all grown to take the plunge! I want to read Zoey's journey, and anyone else's. I also made a move to perform clinic nursing on weekends (been in a UM role for the last 8 years) I can't imagine a lay person leaping into online/distance learning and then have a weekend clinical to pass boards - it would scare me as a nurse and a patient (sorry).

The EPN is a message board for excelsior students. There is boards for all the nursing theory exams which is great when your studying for tests, and boards for CPNE questions and CPNE journals...helps you to know kind of what to expect.
I dont think a 'lay person' can do distance learning. The people doing the distance are generally LPN's, RT, or Paramedics or have to have completed at least 1/2 of a traditional RN program before transferring. I think that's ECE policy, but not 100% sure...in La, that's the requirments for our state board.
Thanks everybody for your encouragement. I am sooo scared and nervous, but I have to do what needs to be done. I love allnurses for so much info, I go to EPN too, but this feels like home.
