Got accepted into Galen-Tampa
I am a Tampa native & have been an LPN for over 32 years. The honest truth - is not one soul in Tampa trusts all these new programs from these private for profit colleges (RN OR LPN) springing up throught Florida. for LPN's it has always been the Erwin/Brewster program under the auspices of hillsborough county schools..the program is accreditated and honest and has years of integrity attached to it. The state board of nursing applauds this program and many of its grads went on to become professional nurses and some have come back and taught at that program level. Florida is very leery of the RN online courses for their low grad rates, and lack of clinicals. Needless to say you could become a professional nurse for what Galen charges for the LPN courses.

unlicensed staff passing medication
I used to work in the ALF in Florida (Tampa) I am horrified at the amount of times a med tech (CNA who has taken 4 hour med pass course) would come to me and ask what this or that pill was for. Also no b/p taken before administering therapuetic cardiac & anti-hypertensives, no pulse taken..EVER! - I would also see meds that need to be given ac vs pc given when the med tech "gets to it".

Senior RN Student w/ Jealous Husband!!!
His mental illness (and he is mentally ill) is not your fault; however, being subjected to it repeatedly will make you ill as well. My best friend was a Psych in Atlanta and she often advised me when we put sociopathic people's needs before ourselves it negates us in the mind of that person. Tracy always said we have to feel we deserve better to "get gone". My SHE-ROE in life was once a single Nurses aide with 8 kids, she then went to LPN school, ASN, and now has a masters in nursing education and teaches LPN's. She had NOTHING but those 8 kids when she moved across the street from my family.

Almost to the CPNE
what's EPN? after 33 years as a LPN (I became one at 18) I've decided at age 51 with everyone all grown to take the plunge! I want to read Zoey's journey, and anyone else's. I also made a move to perform clinic nursing on weekends (been in a UM role for the last 8 years) I can't imagine a lay person leaping into online/distance learning and then have a weekend clinical to pass boards - it would scare me as a nurse and a patient (sorry).
