Adn program cost?

Published

So i just went today and checked out a junior college in my area that is starting a 2 yr adn program for RN. Everything sounded great until the lady told me the cost of the program, they have 8 terms which are 12 weeks long each and cost 5400 a term, to me that seemed outrageous. It would cost approx. 44000 to do this program. How much is everyone elses program?

I think the grand total for someone starting out without prior college classes would be a total of around 12 grand. Each term (3 terms/year) was around $900 for 12 credits of pre and co-requisites. Nursing school is about $1200/term x 6 terms.

Here in my state of Virginia, ADN programs at community colleges cost around $110/credit; a full ADN program and prereqs would cost around $8,000.

There are also some private, for-profit schools that offer an ADN degree. I know of one that charges $49,000 for an associate's degree (and students sign a promissory note to borrow the full price before classes begin).

You will find a great difference between public and private schools.

Wow in NC $56.50 per credit hour. So things aren't that expensive around here.

My private school is 24 months, including prereqs, and will cost around $45,000

The community college in the same town would cost about $6000, unless you are out of state, then it is closer to $24,000.

I too am in NC.

I live in California and when I started pre-reqs 5 years ago, it was $20 a unit. It is now up to $32 a unit and I think that is so expensive~lol. I borrowed my books and my tuition for my program is now about $300 a semester for 4 semesters. So about $1200 tuition for the entire program, not including books/uniforms/etc. Oh, and $30 a semester for parking~ha!! I go to a community college.

my diploma program is ~ 4000 a semester x 5 semester.. so around 20,000 total :crying2:

the cc ADN program i was in was about 2500 a semester x 4 semesters = 10,000

Here in Florida, State college, I am paying right under 10k, and this includes all books, labs, uniforms, and pre-req's.

I live in Iowa. The community college Associate's Degree RN program I hope to attend lists a total program costs (including books, testing fees, etc.) at around $23,000.

The CC I am going to will be around 9k for my ADN. The private schools, for the same degree, are about 40k.

When i say junior college, that is what they call the community college in our area...I think this is crazy, ecspecially when theres a huge university directly across the street that you can get a bsn at for 30000. I'm just looking for a shorter program, i already have a BA and dont wanna spend another 4 years in school

If you already have a BA you should look into an acelorated BSN program. you would most likely get done in the same amount of time but have a BSN. those numbers just don't seem right for a CC. sounds more like a private one to me. my CC will be under $10,000 pre reqs\s and all . i have friends that didnt make it in going to chamberlin for the some of $60,000 for bsn. i think they are crazy to spend that much.
