Active investigation with board for charting errors

Has anyone been involved in an active investigation for charting errors and what was the outcome with the BON?

What type of errors are we talking about? It’s hard to tell when you ask such a vague question.

Errors can be corrected and aren't typically "BON report" material. A lot of states have disciplinary actions online. You might be able to browse and see if you run into something similar to what you're dealing with.

Agreed, charting errors aren’t typical BON material... unless we are taking about fraud? Or if someone is seriously lying on their charting.

But honestly... many people get away with: Little Old Man #1 has great bilateral pedal pulses when in reality he has had bilateral above the knee amputations... sooooo there’s that.

Oh Yeah! Ms. Grey is alert oriented x 3 , had a restful night and sleeping in her chair. I walk in after report and find Ms Grey quite grey, very cold and sleeping her eternal sleep in the chair minus a pulse! Thankfully she was a DNR/DNI------!

BON responsibilities vary from State to State. I have never heard of a random "investigation" by the BON, so I am assuming you are referring to a specific complaint made to them. Once again, varies by Board and severity of the complaint. If it is a violation of the state Nurse Practice Act, it could result in disciplinary action against the subject of the complaint. But usually drags on forever.
