At my last job we were required to get our BLS even if we had ACLS (ACLS includes BLS) my current job we do not have to take BLS separately if we have ACLS. What does your job require?

I am required to have both ACLS and BLS. Plus NRP and stable... Never heard of a hospital that didn't require BLS... Interesting:rolleyes:

My department requires BLS, ACLS, and PALS.

BLS is included in ACLS ... if we have ACLS they give us the certs for both.

My hospital requires both ACLS and BLS. We used to be able to renew BSL at the same time we renewed ACLS, but now we must take the classes separately.

I am pretty sure in order to take ACLS you need to have your BLS card... I could be wrong, but I am pretty sure you still need a CPR card.

Yes, if AHA ACLS, current BLS is required.

I've never worked anywhere where BLS was not required even if ACLS cert.

BLS is required even if you have ACLs. From what I understand ACLs doesn't cover BLS

I know this is a "national" cert, but could they be different region to region?

By "national cert" are you talking about AHA? If so, it is not regional. BLS is required before ACLS.

Even as an ACLS instructor, I still have to have a current BLS card.

BLS is "covered" in ACLS. There is a BLS station that one must be successful before moving onward in the ACLS course, but current BLS card is mandatory (with the AHA) before taking ACLS.

So do I have to keep my BLS current to re-take ACLS?

When I took ACLS, BLS was included and we received BLS cards, however, after that, the provider stopped providing BLS cards to those completing the ACLS course. This was in 2007.
