Is Your Nurses' Week Gift Not Exactly What You Wanted?

nurse-week-scrubs.jpg.61c832f735ed665606a9cece7ffc311c.jpg

All nurses would love to have some token of recognition and appreciation on Nurses Week. But, more often than not, we either get a lame gift, or worse yet....nothing at all. And then there are those gifts that are really a surprise. What would you like for Nurses Week?

I wouldn't mind a new car.......as long as it wasn't plastered with flowers. HA HA

The best nurse's week gift I've ever received was a personal note from management outlining my accomplishments for the year, what I've contributed to our workplace and how grateful they are for my contributions.

This year I got a T shirt.

We got some fruit & donuts from one of the MD's we guilted into it. He is very appreciative of the work we do, and tells us thank you often. He's a nice guy to work with and I was more than happy to enjoy his gift to us.

What do I want for nurses week? A job in L&D.....a chance to get the experience to do what I went to school for!!

This year we got the same tote we've been getting for every occasion this past year... I have 3 of the same cheap tote that's not even durable enough to use for work

A raise! ;)

I don't want or need yet another water bottle; I'd also like my annual review on time instead of over 30 days and counting late; and I'd like more than a lousy 0.25 cents per hour raise!!!

I'd be happy with a little positive recognition for all nursing staff. We work hard daily providing the best care we can for our residents and seldom hear a positive comment from the higher ups in the chain of command. We got a water bottle/glass with the companies name on it.

We got a copy of Florence Nightingale's "Notes on Nursing'. MANY (make that most) of my co-workers have never read it.

I work WEA. They were supposed to bring us ice cream sandwiches. They didn't show. We got nothing.

The best gift I received was this year, our director wrote a handwritten note saying what he appreciated about my contribution to the clinic, plus we got a tote bag and a nursing lapel pin and a watch to wear on your lapel. But this particular tells us all the time how much he values us. He makes frequent rounds, asks about any concerns, then emails you personally to let you know how he is addressing your issue.

Which is why I love my job even more!

Cheryl

We got socks-yup I said socks with our hospital logo
