I am in my last semester of school and, overall, I have gained 15lbs since I started nursing school. I keep waiting till school is over so I can lose this weight, but judging by what I read and hear, the outlook is not good! I am wondering if anyone actually lost weight from being too:monkeydance: busy!

PACK YOUR MEALS. And bring a lot of fruit, else you'll be in vending machine self-sabotage.

Nooo...I was so stressed out that I'd head for the fridge. And when you are studying, you are not exactly exercising. Mind you, sitting in front of the computer reading "allnurses.com" is pretty sedentary too:typing

I lost weight because i had way more time to prepare better quality meals, instead of fueling up on junk.

I'm hoping to lose the weight, wish I only had the 15 lbs....

I've finally got time to exercise, and it feels good! Never time in school, or after graduation when studying for NCLEX.

I've been on the treadmill 1/2 hour - 45 minutes daily since mid-January. Scale has not gone down much, but it's not going up.

I recognize that the better shape I am in, the better off I'll be on a highly physical and stressful job.

I'm older too, 43, and recognize that I dont need to be carrying around the extra weight. I'm standing up straighter, and my jeans are fitting different. I'll take whatever I can get, and am trying to look at this as a long term solution.

I lost about 45 pounds after school. Gained it all back later, but it melted off after I graduated.

I lost about 8 lbs. I still have about 6-10 lbs extra I'd like to lose. I missed so many meals and by the time I get out of work I don't always feel like eating.

I have found that those yogurt smoothies are great to take. At least I can get some nutrition if I have a spare minute. It helps that I don't partake in anything that people bring in and I make it a rule not to eat any goodies that family brings in. I also don't usually order out when everyone else is placing a lunch order. I think I burn a lot of extra calories on the days I work. I'm always down a few pounds after I work 2 12 hour shifts.

Yep. Gained about 15 in school, in various increments, from start to finish. Gained, lost, gained again. Gained a bit more while studying for NCLEX (hit up the "comfort food" pretty hard, as you can imagine!). All told, more than 20 up from where I started.

Started on day shift. Gained several pounds (guaranteed lunch break and always gifted goodies in the breakroom). Moved to night shift. Lost about 10-12 so far (never get a meal break, never any gift food left from days/eves in the breakroom). I sometimes eat a pre-prepared, convenience item I have in my locker. Not a great system, but I figure I'll be at my goal weight by summer, doing nothing more than my job!

Yep, gained 15 in school and lost about 30 lbs the first year without even trying. I have always been the type of person that gains weight easily my whole life until now. I blame it on the 12 hour work day....no time to eat, running my *ss off at work, too tired to make anything when I get home!

I ate a lot of mom's cooking and gained weight in nursing school despite that I was jogging every other day. When I graduated and moved out of town I lost weight because like Marie, I prepared better quality meals....sorry mom.

LMAO, I feel the same way. When my coworkers tell me they are going to gym after work, I say YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING ME! Repositioning your 300+ lb plus patients Q2hr hasn't been enough lifting for one day? The 5 miles of very fast walking you have done in the last 13 hours hasn't burned enough calories for you? The last thing I need after work is to go to the gym!

I did lose some weight, but I call it my "anxiety" diet. I have began to workout again, and that helps with both the anxiety and stress as well as keeping the weight off.
