Tuition Fees??

Hey all, I've been out of school 17 years but want to complete my BSN. I like the online possibilities since I have 3 young-uns but one school quoted me $900/tuition hour. Can any of you share your recent tuition fees with me? I want to shop around and I don't know what is reasonable and what is rape. Thanks!!!!!

Check out University of Phoenix. They have a BSN program if you already have your RN. I just talked with them the other day, their BSN program is completely online and their tuition did not seem too bad, at least not $900. per hour.

The website is: http://www.uoponline.com/accred.asp

Hope this helps.

im not sure on online programs... I think Graceland in Iowa has an online program, and I seem to remember it being like 600/hour, which "I" thought was rape! I looked there for classes because they also have an online BSN to MSN FNP.

i would definately consider 900/hour rape~!

Just for clarification--the $900/hour was at University of Jacksonville Online. I wasn't sure if I could name the institution or not.

$900 is rape, I agree. $900 is how much I'm paying for tutition, fees and books for 15 hours for the whole semester. I'm going to my community college to get my pre-reqs then tranfer to a university for my BSN, it is much cheaper. My cc is only $36/credit hour and OU (where I'll get my BSN) is somewhere around $90-120/credit hour. I would definitely took a look around at other places. I know that if I took online classes at my cc than it is cheaper than $36/hour.

sorry to ask a silly question but........do you have to pay for your nurse training? we get paid a bursary to train as a nurse- not much but enough to live on (almost) sometimes have to pay for futher training- depends on who you work for! my employer paid for my degree! costs about £3000 to get a degree here. maybe if we had to pay for training we wouldnt have such a high drop out rate- mind you think that is more to do with payand conditions than anything else!!

Steady, Karen, you'll start a stampede! LOL Our students c/o their debt levels after Uni. but US education costs are such that the US Govt has introduced a scheme where the student gets various allowances/deductions. Even IF they meet all the criteria, and IF they get the maximum 85% allowances, they still come out owing around the same as British nurses. Maybe socialism isn't so bad!

Alot of people who do already work for a hospital can get tutition assistance for school. But for people like me (I'm a stay at home mom) we don't have anyone to pay for it unless you have low income and qualify for a grant.

Our hospital did away with tuition reimbursement due to budget cuts. Doesn't make alot of sense with the nursing shortage and all, huh?

I think University of Phoenix Online is $500/credit hour for graduate and $400/credit hour for undergrad.

$900??? There is no wonder there is a nursing shortage:eek:

The Bachelor of Nursing Degree Program (post RN) offered by correspondence at Athabasca University has the following fee schedule for international students.

1 credit ...................... $113

3 credit ...................... $726

4 credit ...................... $835

6 credit ...................... $1,075

After doing some initial comparison of distance RN-BSN options I can somewhat safely say the University of Wyoming is the cheapest option with a credit cost of approximately $90. They charge in-state tuition to out of state distance students. I am interested to hear from people who are doing online-RN to BSN programs what they have to say about their school and what made them choose their college. I am looking for a relatively quick degree program so that I can start a graduate program.
