Anyone have any good ideas for helping to fund their schooling? I'm going to have to pay cash for mine. I can't get a grant because I already have one degree. The state nursing association offers scholarships, but only to people who are already nurses. I don't know of any hospitals that offer money with a commitment to work for them. I guess we will be eating beans and rice for the next 2 years:eek: and praying that the kids don't need too many new clothes and shoes!:chuckle

I have a Stafford Loan. I pay the interest on the loan now & will begin making after I graduate.

Have you checked to see if you qualify for a Stafford Loan? I didn't think I would, and I did. Also, Wells Fargo has student loans.

Go talk to the people in your financial aid office. They were really helpful to me.

We are paying for it ourselves and trying to fit it into the monthly budget. Fortunately my school does offer a monthly payment plan for tuition - interest free (they do charge a $25 administrative fee). Unless I can get some kind of scholarship that is not need-based that's the way it will have to be.

I've made a contract with the devil.

If I choose to abide by it, I have to work at Fire and Brimstone General Hospital, full time, for a time period no less than 30 months.

However, I'll probably breach the contract, pay it back in full, and hope Satan doesn't put a hit on me.

For Mom to 2 monsters I have the same problem (indiana) can't get financial aid because have degree. no loans or grants it is ridiculous! No wonder there is shortage of nurses. Going to lowest price community college (which has major tuition raise for fall grrr!) Want BSN but can't afford state college. It is real stuggle work 2 0r 3 jobs and barely eat anything. Charge cards maxed out for books, drive 16 year old car. Watch young students in class many on welfare, food stamps bring fast food to class and soda (i about pass out I'm so hungry) The teacher holds class start time because their late (which messes me up getting to work) and they don't study or bring books and stuff to class. But they get state/federal money. I get A's they get C's. Who said life was fair? Just tough it out one class one day at a time. Study. You will appreciate nursing more than them.

I have found that Wells Fargo has some good loan programs for students in different situations, like myself(I don't qualify for any type of aide). Also, I don't know if you plan on working at all while in school, but some companies (hospitals) will help pay partial/full tuition, the circumstances may vary(thats what I'm working on right now!)

I am on a scholarship and pell grant.

Check to see what does it take for you to receive a scholarship. Even if you have to wait a couple of semester it will still come in handy. Have you talked to your church family about school scholarships and your bank have different types of loans too.

theres a web site out there called, http://www.fasweb.com go to it and fill out the profile and the system will do scollarship searches for you. there are so many out there. im sure you will be able to get one to help you with schooling, even if you have a degree already. try it out. BEST OF LUCK!!!
