Has anyone ever been written-up or suspended by their place of employment?

I received my first write-up today after nine months on the job. I am the type of person who can accept full responsibility for my wrongdoings; however, the disciplinary process is still so very depressing and humorless.

Thanks for listening.

Yuck Commuter! Sorry you're going through all that! Sure does feel like a slap in the face, but keep your confidence, don't let them get you down!

I've never been written up but I know that if I did I'd be a blubbering idiot crying all the time.

Try to put it behind you and start over. Everyone makes mistakes. I don't know the nature of the mistake but I can't imagine you make a grievous mistake.

I was written up for something I didnt do but I couldn't prove it wasn't me. As far as the boss was concerned the pt said it was me, so it must have been me. I was more angry than anything else.

I got written up for something that happened while I was out of the state on my honeymoon.

I am suprised that I was not written up for something during my hospital days. Fact is they were so short handed they did not want to do anything that would make even fewer people come in :(. Hang in there, Commuter. I can tell from your posts you are a conscientious nurse. Try to learn whatever you can, even if it is how NOT to supervise, then try not to worry about it. Remember, you can always come vent here!

As I previously stated, I am the type of person who accepts full responsibility for my wrongdoings.

I am too shaky right now to discuss what I did to deserve the write-up, but it absolutely did not involve patient care or harming patients. One of my offenses was using the internet after my shift ended, since only family members and patients are to use our so-called 'Internet Cafe'.

My bosses did say that they did not want to see me leave the comapny over offenses that were so silly.

I see from your post that you are counting down to the end of this semester, and it's only a little over two weeks away. I suggest that you take a deep breath and concentrate on something good right now. Yes, I am an eternal optimist, but please don't let this situation (whatever it might be) escalate into something that will get GroupOne treatment.

Your many posts have demonstrated that you are indeed a conscientious nurse when it comes to caring for your patients. Best wishes!

I wasn't written up, but harshly spoken to recently in a similar situation. Its very frustrating, to KNOW you didn't do something, but to have your manager, charge nurse and one of the MDs think you are the incompetent nurse who screwed up. It wasn't a huge screw up, more of a security issue, but the patient complained to everyone she could. Very, very frustrating!

Geez Commuter, you ARE having a bad week! Don't let it get to you, though. You have friends here.

(((((((((Big hugs!!))))))))))

Sorry this is happening!

Being written up is a bitter pill, especially if it's for a chicken poop reason. I've had to swallow a few of those bitter pills over the years. Hugs to you, you will get through it. :icon_hug:
