Do most LTC facilities have the option to work just weekends?? I'm still going to school so I thought that might be an option for me and it would help me out with gas for the week. I just didn't know how possible of an option this was.

Yes this is an option that many places offer. My first CNA job was every other weekend which is considered part time. And my current job is every other weekend as well. So if you can find a job that will allow you to work weekends, go for it. School is way more important than a job, so your main focus should be your education (then making a little money! lol). Good luck!

I wanted to work every weekend plus one weekday and the schedule person loves that I want weekends, cause it seems no one else does!

Per diem is an option as well. You may opt to only fill in during weekend hours that work for you. That is what I am doing. So far it is working out great. Per diem has a hire pay rate sometimes also.
Would that be one of the first things you tell them. Like during the interview? That you only want to work weekends?

I love weekends. More money, less management.

My place would love that. As it is, you have to work at least every OTHER weekend. Not working weekends at all is not an option.

Most places I've worked would be absolutely delighted to have someone want to work every weekend. The weekends are when you always get the stupid call-ins.
Although the weekends are when most do not want to work, it can't hurt to find a spot on the application to give them a heads up. So they know what to expect before your interview.

My facility has M-F shifts for 6-2 and 2-10. Then we have a whole different crew that works double shifts 6a-10p on the weekend; I never see them. Night shift works 4 on 2 off. Weekend crew only gets 32 hours, they don't do Baylor pay. I'm thinking that this is what I'll do when I start nursing school, if they don't do away with it between now and then. The weekend people are terrible. We hear stories from the residents when we get back on Monday, and it's terribly busy that day because we have to pick up the slack from the things that they didn't do.

Where I work we have an option if its available to work either saturday sunday 12 hours and 1 day thru the week or saturday sunday 16 hours... we then get paid for 40 hours instead of 32... however if you want overtime you have to work the 8 regular to make 40 hours in the week before you start time and a half... I believe it is an excellent way to go if you are in school or if you just want to spend time with the family... However I work in a Critical Care Unit...

Anyone know of CNA positions for on call? The money isn't a big deal. It's the experience and extra points on my BSN application!
