Hello. I am new to the site. I am looking for work in the dfw area. I have no restrictions on my license except to work under the supervision of another rn. I do not have any narcotic or shift worked restrictions. I have an agreed order from the texas bon for a bunch of classes to finish in one year and a year of ua drug testing. This order will not go into effect untill january of 2012. Can anyone tell me who might hire me in the dfw area with a warning with one year stipulations as stated above? How about jps in ft worth?

Not nowhere near there, but i would think you got a good chance since there are no restrictions

I've been living in the DFW area for 6 years. I have seen plenty of nurses who have stipulations, restrictions, limited licenses, and TPAPN orders employed in nursing homes, but never in the hospital setting. To be perfectly blunt, most of the DFW area hospitals do not want to deal with even the simplest of stipulations. Your chances of securing gainful nursing employment are better if you look for a job outside the hospital. Good luck to you.

Thank you for your comment commuter RN. I have been called for an interview for a case management position with Kindred in Ft Worth downtown tomorrow. On the online app it asked if I had any past or current sanctions against my license which I answered "no" to honestly as I have not at this time signed the agree order the board has proposed and my lawyer is urging me to sign. I do intend to sign the order which will go into effect after the board sits in late January. My question is this:

1) Do I bring up the future agreed order for the 1 year of stips which does not prevent me from giving any meds..it only involves working under a RN who is at the facility who is willing to send in reports every 3 months , not working in home care etc, and a year of drug screens and the usual classes?

2) or do I go in and work to be the good nurse I am and have 3 months with them before I let them know about my agreed order with the hopes they will see my value as a nurse and keep me on at that point?

Any and all feedback is so much appreciated.

Congrats on your job and the restrictions arent too bad at all. I think I would tell them upfront about the stipulations which is not really a hassle for the management. This way you are upfront with them . It doesnt sound like it shoild be a problem. Good Luck let us know !

The Kindred interview was Ok..but a no go..they said the board would never agree that case management was going to cut it for the "direct patient care" stip for one year. They were very nice and I guess I was brain dead thinking I could do case management and meet this stip..live and learn..Thank goodness I took the advise of JMO1231 and disclosed up front...thank you for that..it was good advice..

so I would like to ask anyone..specially commuter rn..what are the nursing homes in the Ft Worth area that are willing to hire nurse's with stips? I understand you may not want to list them here??? Is there a way we could talk about this???

Hi backtowork,so Im confused as to why case management isnt going to be an acceptable position for the nursing board?Its in a nonclinical role. I would think it would be perfect.? Good luck in your job hunting something will turn up:)

Thank you Commuter any other suggestions? The RN positions in the ones u mentioned are charge positions and I need to be working under an RN on the facility. Should I ask to work at the LVN rate to meet this? The reason the case management wouldn't work is because my stips say I must do "direct patient care" not work in a non clinical role .

if i were you- & they will hire you at the LVN rate- i would do it! it will get you hired & working as a nurse, & could then be advanced as your restrictions are lifted. good luck!!

Thank you TXRN2..I have no problem working at LVN pay..so I think I am going to try that approach..I live in a relatively rural part of Texas...50 miles NW of Ft Worth..I am wondering if my chances would be better with the LVN approach at the outlying LTC facilities..much less competition than the DFW area I would think? Please post if you agree..disagree and thank you thank you all for being here..you are a beacon in very rough dark scary seas for me.
