Wireless Printer Recommedation

Published

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good printer that doesn't cost a fortune for ink. The one I have now is a basic Cannon that came with my computer and it seems like I was replacing ink almost one a month last semester. Ill be starting nursing school in the fall and I'd like to get one that's more economical.

Get a black and white laser printer. The toner cartridges will last for ~5000 pages.

Good day:

I'm still hunting what type of printer I should get.

Scott, wouldn't you want color to print color study guides for when it comes to biology, A&P, and so on?

Thank you.

Personally I want the cheapest option. I print so much stuff for ns. For A&P I found it more useful to use the coloring book or draw my own pics than to waste ink and money.

Good points; thank you.

All I can say is that I've had so-so luck with HP printers and wireless connections. My current one has a love-hate relationship with some (random) black cartridges. Sometimes it's quite happy with it, sometimes it thinks the cartridge is damaged. Sometimes the printer locks up... and I think it's actually cartridge-related.

When it's running (which is most of the time), it's perfectly good to go wireless or USB. Next printer probably won't be an HP though.

Got an HP laser jet and the cartridges I get on Ebay, 2 for $23 and each prints 1000 pages. It was about $89 with a $20 mail in rebate. Love it!

I'd suggest a WIRED network LASER printer. You don't have to worry about wireless configurations and you can plug it directly into your wireless router. With the laser option (as stated above) you get more pages/$. Also, if you have the money to pay up front you might look at business class printers vs consumer. Long term they tend to last longer and the ink is cheaper.

I have a Brother printer, scanner, copier all in one. Paid $100 for it at Staples. It prints on both sides of the paper and is wireless. LOVE it!!

The only thing I can say about owning a laser printer is I wish I had bought one earlier rather then later. Ink jet printer just eat up the ink too fast when you have to print 60+ pages of notes a week. I have a Brother HL 2270DW laser printer for general printing, but I also have a canon MX340 ink jet for color, scanning and color printing if needed. The Brother HL 2270DW is BW and has wireless, duplex printing, but is basic. I think I paid a little over $100 on sale at the time and toner is about $40-60. For a little bit more you can get a scanner and fax. You can also buy a color laser printer, but they are do cost more, are slower and a higher cost per page ratio.

I, too, have a laser printer. It's an HP, have had it for 3 years. Love it!
