Where are all the nurses?

Can someone please tell me where all the nurses who are looking for jobs are?

I have at least 4 full time and 2 part time openings and I haven't had one good candidate apply. I've had people who lie on their application, people who will only work first shift and are amazed that they'll have to work on every other weekend...where are all the nurses? We pay better than the other facilities around and just had a perfect survey.

What's up out there?

Most new grads feel the NEED a hospital job, I think that's part of it. I know my facility just hired a bunch of new nurses, but prior to this last batch, they had a run of those who couldn't pass the drug screen or the background turned up scary things. I shudder to think that those nurses may get hired somewhere eventually

The local hospital will be laying off another round of nurses in June....I am hopeful, although I don't think hospital nurses could handle the patient load on a sub acute floor!

Im an LPN looking for a job, I live in CT. I assume its in capecod? Where is the facility?

Not on Cape Cod but in Massachusetts. I can't divulge the location here. I think it's against the TOS.

You hiring LVNs? ? I would apply in a heartbeat!

I'd come work for you. You're an awesome DON.

It's all about timing...hope you find the candidates that fit for your facility!!!

Me, too!!!

If I ever got up to Mass., I'd enjoy meeting you. I was envious when your survey was def-free. I would just love to work for a place that was def-free. I've worked at good places, but they always seemed to have a blip or two.

Give me 11-7 and weekends - no problem!. I guess when you find your niche, you just know what works.

Good luck in your search.

Just thought about it - Massachusetts gets more snow than us from South Jersey. I'd have to think about that one...

I was just recently hired at a rehab hospital, but literally sent out over 100 applications in massachusetts. Three years of LPN experience and recent RN grad. It was rough!

That is what everyone tells new grads.

Many old professors have told me that if you do not work med surg and end up in Ltc that you are doomed there for the rest of your career.

Also, many said ltc makes you "lazy" because you are not using critical thinking skills.
