When did you take your NCLEX?

I graduate in December (WOOHOO!) and was curious if I should just take the NCLEX as soon as possible, opposed to waiting a month or so to study etc. I think I am leaning towards just doing it ASAP to get it over with in case I pass the first go round (my school has a 100% pass rate-so I am hoping I have that going for me ;). If I fail then I would have study time that I would have had anyways had I waited. Whats your experience, how long did you wait for the 1st time? How soon can you even take it after graduation anyway?

I was a December graduate as well. I signed up for the exam as soon as my school had all my paper work submitted. I was able to get on the schedule for February, and I passed the first time. The sooner, the better! :) Good luck! And congrats on your upcoming graduation!

I graduated in December and I took my NCLEX at the end of January. I say give yourself some time to study before just jumping right into taking the test. I gave myself 5 weeks, and in that time frame, I studied about 6 hours each day. Once I got the ATT, I scheduled a date and made sure not to change it.

Good luck!

You've already waited 3 months, do it asap. I also graduated in December and took my boards in February. I was upset that my school's registrar took so long to submit their end of the paperwork. I wanted to take my boards late December/early January. I must say it was very difficult to stay focused on studying when you're not in school. However, that doesn't matter because I thought the boards was a piece of cake and I could have passed it without studying at all. As long as you know the test taking strategies and know how to prioritize, you are good to go.

I am taking mine 3 months post graduation and I am happy that I am reviewing. I am learning alot:p more important information. Good luck to you!!

I just graduated in January. Took the Kaplan course right away and I'm taking the NCLEX Monday. I feel like I've had the right amount of time to review and do an as many practice questions as I can.

I haven't waited, I don't graduate until this december :lol2: But that was what I was thinking-that I will not want to look at another book or nclex style practice question after graduation!

finished Dec 2011 and took and passed 02/25!!

I graduated March 2008, and took the NCLEX just last month. So, more than 3 years after graduation.

Initially, I wasn't really planning on working as a nurse - I actually enrolled and passed first year med school. But then, I got pregnant and, so now I have a mouth that depends on me to feed it. I COULD just rely on my parents for financial support, but I would rather make it on my own. So, I decided to abandon medicine for now, and pursue nursing again.

I completed an LVN program in October '05 and took NCLEX-PN in January '06. The delay was due to waiting for the authorization to test.

I completed an RN completion program in March '10 and tested in May. I needed the 6 weeks to study because I attended a school with a history of horrid first-time NCLEX pass rates, so I wanted to ensure that I would pass on my very first attempt.

I graduated Dec 2011 and took my NCLEX on 3/10/12 and passed =) I would have probably took it earlier but I also work 3 days a week so I gave myself the other 4 days in the week to study (in which I did like 50 qbank questions a day)

I only used kaplan to study with and i did every single question.

Good luck to you! =)
