When did you receive your ATT?

Hi, all! So, I recently graduated from nursing school this past May, but I am still finishing up a few classes to obtain my degree. I took a paramedic to RN bridge program and I didn't quite have enough time to finish all of my non-nursing classes required for my degree. Anywho... I will be all done August 19th, and I have accepted a conditional offer for an out of state RN position. The hospital wants me to complete my testing by 60 days after graduation, so around middle of October. I have registered with Pearson, paid my fees, and submitted my application to the Indiana Board of Nursing... So, all that needs done is for me to finish these extra classes and have my school send my official papers saying that I am done, after final grades have been posted for this summer. My question to y'all is, do you think I will have enough time? When did you receive your ATT after you graduated? Thank you in advance!

The real question is how did you graduate nursing school without all classes?

Yeah, a lot of people are confused when I say that. Basically I graduated from my program, but I did not have all of the required classes to obtain my AAS. If that makes sense. I went to Kent State University, and they do not require you to finish your supplemental, non-nursing courses to graduate from their program. And since my bridge program was only a year, it was difficult to get all of those classes done before I graduated from the nursing program. So, I'm finishing them this summer. But obviously I cannot take my RN boards without my degree, so that's why I am not eligible to sit for boards until this summer semester is finished. I'm just fulfilling my math and English requirements right now.

It really depends on how fast your school sends everything in and how fast the state processes it. I completed my program on a Friday, Monday was a national holiday so my school submitted the paperwork on a Tuesday. I received my ATT on Wednesday and was able to schedule my NCLEX for a week later.

When I graduated I finished in May and went to my school's graduation ceremony, which was also in May. But my school did not officially confer my degree until towards the end of June. The board didn't care that I had a diploma- they made me wait until my degree was officially conferred before acknowledging my application. Once that was done it was about 2 weeks before I had my ATT, and another 2-3 weeks before I was able to get an appointment to test. So basically it depends on when your school officially confers your degree. If you call your registrar office they should be able to tell you when that will happen.

I had the same thing happen to me! I graduated in Dec 2016 from my nursing program but I did not take English 102. It was not a prereq to nursing - so I had to take English 102 during Spring 2017! BIGGEST mistake I made waiting until AFTER nursing school to take English! :x Now I am studying for my NCLEX! I'm glad I wasn't the only one that finished nursing and had to take another class afterwards...

in my state, CA, the BRN has processing times for applications. I applied end of May and haven't received anything yet

Nope! You're not the only one. I also regret it... I wish I would've just pushed through and did these classes along with my nursing program. Especially since now all my classmates are starting to take boards and I still have to wait a couple of months.

I sent my paperwork in on 6/5/2017 and received my ATT on 6/22/17.

Hey! If you're in a crunch, I would say try to start the application asap. And if you really want to speed it up, call the office you sent the application to (be really nice) and they can help. I did that, and I am SO fortunate this nice woman literally pushed my paperwork through (would have taken two more weeks had she not done that).

Best of luck!

I went for LPN, so my situation might be different. We actually got all of our paperwork for licensure early around March or so. When it was confirmed that we had all of our hours needed for the license, then the school would send the application with the NCLEX fee. They actually send it a couple of days after graduation. No one received an email for an ATT almost a month after graduation. I know a few of my friends tried calling, but they were dismissed. I called Pearson asking if they received all of my paperwork. The representative said that she did receive it and the payment, but they were waiting for the authorization from my BON (New York). So I called my BON. The first representative said I didn't send anything. I told him that I spoke to Pearson and they received everything a month ago. He transferred me to another representative who was able to resolve everything. He said I should get the ATT in 24 hours. I actually got it a couple hours later. I told my classmates, and I guess the BON got flooded with their calls. Some of my friends also got their ATT that day while others were dismissed and told to be more patient. Those who didn't get the ATT that week got it the next week.
