Would you accept a job offer in an area that you're really interested in pursuing- if it means taking a 2 to 3 dollar an hour pay cut? I wouldn't have to work weekends and all holidays are paid?
Benefits are about the same.
I don't mind my current job- but don't love it. Would like to grow and pursue a different area.

Could you elaborate a bit more? For example, are you happy where you are currently working? Would you be getting better benefits, or any benefits. Are you expected to work weekends, but not get paid for it? Is there an opportunity that your pay would eventually match and even surpass what you are currently getting?
Often times the long range outcomes of a new job surpass the short term pitfalls, especially if it's in a field you are very interested in. With that said, I am kind of concerned about you not receiving any holiday pay, where I work, by law your employer must provide holiday pay whether it is time off with pay or holiday is paid on each paycheck or annually.
Look forward to your response.

You leave a lot to the imagination with your post! It would depend on a lot of things. Can you afford the pay cut? Is this just a passing interest or is it a more serious pursuit? What are your other options? How long have you been where you are now?
In general, I am the type who will pursue the next goal or challenge as it presents itself. The pay cut would not bother me if I had the opportunity to pick up some extra shifts, etc.

If the pay cut won't cause hardship go for it.
I would look at the long term benefits. If you don't really care for your current job, but would be more excited in this job opportunity, despite the pay decrease, then I think you would be better off with the new job. With this said, it really is your decision at the end of the day.
Best of luck with your decision. Let us know what you decide.

I'd do it. I've done it, twice. Both times it was a good move.

Not right now. Until my hubby's business gets off the ground, I'm the main one bringing home the bacon. Once things are different, I want to go back to school, get my bachelor's, and then pursue either being an SANE or a wound care nurse or whatever...

It would depend on an awful lot of factors...
Is there opportunity for further growth in the new position? If it were a temporary set-back with the opportunity to earn more in subsequent years, and it was an area I really wanted to get into, I'd most definitely conisder it.

Yep, I am looking to do it right now. I hope to get hired for the job I interviewed for, $3.50/hour paycut, 10 minute longer drive, but it is in an area I have long wanted to pursue and there will be no weekends or holidays. And we can afford it. Like PP said, as long as you can afford it and it is something you really want to be doing, go for it.

If you can afford it, go for it. Pursue what you want to do... it's so worth it!
