.....did you get to find out what you were truly made of? I am not 100% sure I want to be a nurse so I am very scared with school starting. It got me thinking.......what else do I have to gain from nursing school other than a career? Can you tell me what you are so much better at now than you were before you started school or became a nurse? What do you feel you have really learned about yourself? Have you gained confidence? How have you grown as a person from the whole experience of nursing school and nursing?
Some things I hope to get better at are people skills and time management. Do they teach you this in nursing school? I don't consider myself much of a "people person" but wonder if nursing school will change this for me. It would be nice to relate to people better. I would love to become a whole new (and better) person through nursing school!:)
It is all a big experiment for me at this point, starting school soon!:stone
Please share with me your thoughts!:)
Thank you!!!

I learned that I did not have to know all the answers. It's just not possible. I just have to know how to find them.

I found myself in nursing school. I don't get all freaked out about silly things anymore. Nursing school taught me that we have such little time here, and we need to make the best of it. I also found God while in nursing school. I was never raised in the church, however while I was in nursing school I prayed so much that I promised when I graduated, that I would start going to church. I started going and I love it. I am now much more aware of the people and surroundings around me. I appreciate the smallest things like being able to read a magazine. I'll never forget a few days after graduation, I was at the grocery store and picked up one of those tabloid magazines and came home and read it from cover to cover. I took this for granted before nursing school. During school so much of my time was consumed with nothing but studying, I forgot how good it felt to read for pleasure. Well that's my rap (at least as short as I can make it), I could go on forever. Nursing school can change a person for the better, it did for me, but only if you really want it and it's right for you. Best of luck to you in whatever you decide.

Laugh...even if it is at yourself. Be humble and know where to find the answers because you don't have all the answers. You will not know much about nursing when you are done with nursing school but you will know a lot about yourself and you will be a great nurse with experience. Just know that you have to work hard. You touch more lives as a nurse than most other professions and you are the most trustworthy.

Still learning...
But, one thing I've learned so far is that healthcare is a team effort, not only do I not have all the answers, no one else does either. That's why we have to help each other out.

I learned a lot about myself during nursing school. I was always pretty patient but sometimes that translated into being a doormat. Now I am more self confident and I know how to set limits and say no. I have also learned not to take everything so personally. Some people/things are just the way they are and most of the time it has nothing to do with me. I have learned that people have to work things out in their own way, in their own time. I am not responsible to fix everything. I am in the process of learning to take better care of myself and more money does not = more happiness.
The most important thing that I learned about myself is that it is very important to set goals and to achieve them. It has given me more satisfaction then I ever thought possible. Now I just want to keep learning and growing as both a nurse and a person

Jeez, going through nursing school & working as a nurse has changed me so completely on many levels. I'm more confident/self-assured in my own reasoning skills & communication with others. I feel like part of some greater flow in life -- the nursing community is really adhesive/supportive & unique, and the nursing role allows us to become really intimate with other human beings on an emotional level. I'm less timid. I have a defined identity. We nurses never stop learning or growing -- this profession is much, much more than a "job". My eyes are more open to the suffering & joys in this world. Nurses see a lot. We are physically, mentally, emotionally & spiritually engaged in our work. It demands a lot from us, and affects us powerfully.
