Without knowing what classes you are in makes it pretty hard to determine what you can do differently. I would suggest talking with your instructors and seeing what they suggest, or other students :)

It's hard to say without more detail. I struggled at first too. I found that it wasn't jut enough to memorize facts but you had to really understand the theory behind things and understand how to apply what I had learned to get the answers they were looking for.It depends on the subject but I found that so many subjects were not cut and dried simple.Just like real life nursing.

What kind of trouble to you find you are having specifically?

Since it sounds to me that you are more concerned about "only" getting a B than having actual difficulties I just had to reply. I was a 4.0 gpa student before I started nursing classes and then barely passed my first semester, so let me pass on some good advice:

The only difference between a nurse that got an A in nursing school and the one who got a C is...wait, there is no difference, they are both nurses.

Relax. Keep your eyes on the prize. Nobody cares what your grade is, especially once you pass your NCLEX. Just concentrate on learning, then you will be a good nurse either way.

The only caveat that should accompany this opinion is that many people whose best nursing school effort garners them Cs in first year do not pass second year. Second year requires you to have a good working knowledge of the first year material to build on. If you start out with a C average that was hard to attain, you're going to have to work a lot harder to keep it.

The head of my Nursing Department was a Solid "C" student throughout her entire ASN program, and that was at her best, it wasn't until she went for her BSN and later her Masters that she started getting straight A's .. My point is constantly put your all into it and if that lands you an "A" "B" or "C" be proud that you gave it your best... And btw having a "B" average sounds like your doing pretty well to me.

You have a B overall and asking this... Don't sweat the small stuff, continue to do what you are doing because it is working for you. If you start to struggle and are dealing with low C's and D's, then ask what you are doing wrong..

Great essay! Everything you say is true! Nursing is a tough career to study! You have to know more than doctors! Keep at it if it is truly your dream!
