What do you do on breaks from school?

I am a first semester NS student, who recently completed most pre req in the summer semesters. However, this winter I will be off from school for the break. The following summer I will be taking Micro, and getting married. These activities will fill up my time. What do you do during your semester breaks? Any activities to keep your mind sharp?

I don't know if it keeps my mind sharp, but it makes me happy! I play Tennis, lots and lots of tennis.

On my breaks I get my house organized, do some redecorating, painting, cleaning out, ect. I read a lot, enjoy my time and just lounge around. I try and start reviewing my schoolwork the week before classes resume, other than that I keep my nose OUT of any nursing books!!

I go back to work during my semester breaks. It changes my focus just long enough for me to be energized when school starts back up again. And it adds to the bank account which isn't a bad thing either. :)

Relax & sleep.

I confess my first reaction to your post title was, "She gets breaks?" But that's just me being a wise...uhm....alleck :D.

For my winter break I'm flying to see my family on the east coast. I haven't seen a lot of them in years, so it will be a lot of fun.

Peace,

Usually, I take extra classes during breaks. This x-mas break, I plan on sleeping, drinking a few margaritas, and forgetting that I'm a nursing student AT ALL.

I would say take the time off and enjoy the "down time"!! You don't seem to be getting much of it lately and it's good for you to give your mind and body a break from constant stress!! =) and don't worry.. you'll pick right back up where you left off when you left.. so don't worry toooo much on staying on top of things.

I go through severe withdrawals...only to have to get started back up when class starts again, routine and all.

No real break here..I have 4 kids. I catch up on housework, kids,I work on my days off also....my real break will be the vacation my family takes when I graduate!

I do almost nothing related to school because those breaks are my downtime to recharge my batteries, and not to read ahead and start spazzing about the next class. I may decide to thumb through a NMIE book, but that's because I want to, not because I have to. And I certainly don't read it like I would read a textbook for an upcomming assignment/quiz/etc. My grades have not suffered from this...in fact, I think doing this is what keeps me sane and doing well in class.

Otherwise I do everything during my breaks that I don't have a chance to do while school is in session. I also make sure to have at least one day (or half-day) set aside for pure sloth.
