Apr 2, 201214 yr Hey guys! :)The application period for UTMB Spring 2013 is now open! Have any of you already applied/ taken the teas? Good luck to all!
Sep 30, 201213 yr I also applied to UTHSC and UHV ...don't give up hope! No news is good news so you are still being considered. I called yesterday before I received my letter and she told me that they are still reviewing applications. I pray that yours is great news! I hope so too. I got accepted to an ADN program but I have been hearing that Magnet hospitals are not really hiring people with ADNs. I am not sure how true this is but I have heard it from at least two nurses.
Oct 1, 201213 yr Not excited tomorrow is Monday. Back to constantly checking mystar and the mail. Hopefully this week brings good news to everybody "patiently" waiting!
Oct 1, 201213 yr I'm having trouble logging into mystar and my email. It's saying my password in incorrect, but I know that its not. Anyone else having this problem?
Oct 1, 201213 yr I've heard the same thing from nurse friends, and at the information session at UTMB. I am applying to an ADN program as a back-up. I guess the benefit to doing ADN first would be a lot of people are able to work while going through a RN-BSN program.

I guess the benefit to doing ADN first would be a lot of people are able to work while going through a RN-BSN program. So you actually heard that they not hiring ADN nurses that much too. I would hate for that to be the case because I already have two degrees and can not find a job. I am passionate about doing nursing and I would hate to not be able to find a job if I do the ADN program.
Oct 1, 201213 yr ashlianna--i am having problems too! have you talked to anyone at utmb? I was about to call the help desk & have them reset my password again :/ any other suggestions?

So, you might be limited to working at hospitals in the outskirts of Houston area (if your from around here and want to stay here) rather than in the med center. I haven't yet met someone who is a nurse (RN or BSN) and had trouble finding a job. You just can't be super picky right out of school. With having two degrees already, that could be in your favor. What are your previous degrees in?

I have a B.S in Health Education and a B.S in Psychology.

I have a lot of friends that are veterens, so thank you in advance I too have a bachelors in Psychology, and oddly taught health-ish education after graduation (STD/Pregnancy prevention program, but I covered a wide range of topics) It's what got me interested in nursing in the first place.
