omg goodness! i've been gone for a day or two and sooo many pages worth of post! exams on the first day of school? financial aid? packets? housing? PDAs and i still have an exam to study for monday! i'm SOOOO BEHIND!! after my exam on monday i need to move-it move-it! thank goodness i have you guys to keep me on track!

I am relocating from DFW and have a couple of friends that live in the Houston area. Oddly enough, they live in or around the medical center. Realistically, how far would the commute be from there to Galveston? I am in the BACC2 program where all my classes are online, but will obviously have to come to campus for lab-type stuff. But like everyone else, I have heard a million different things about where our clinicals MIGHT be. I guess I am just wondering what your take on taking the gamble and moving to the med center is? Are you BACC2 or generic?

Does anyone else have an opinion? I need some input! Plus, I'm coming to town for ONE day next week to find a place. I need to narrow down places to look!!

I was told that the clinicals will be scheduled as close to your home address as possible. The clinicals in Galveston are usually reserved for students living on the island. UTMB is not fully functional after Ike yet, so clinicals there are limited. I have heard this same information from several sources.

I am Bacc2 also and will be living in Friendswood. I do know we will have one day a week where we have to be in Galveston for lab.

Have any of the Bacc2s heard about the schedule yet? I haven't received a schedule, yet.

How about fin aid? I received my award letter with the stafford loans, but it didn't have my scholarship on it. I've been trying to call, but no live person.

PS: The commute from the med center would be one hour at least to Galveston. You could try out staying with your friends the first couple of weeks just to get a feel for it, and you'd know more about clinicals after orientation. I, personally, think the drive is not so bad to Galveston, much better than West Houston/59 area.

Well saturday i got a letter from UTMB and it said that i was waitlisted. I called yesterday and the lady said that at the very latest I could heard from them by Jan 6. I hope i hear from them before then. Im finishing classes this week at COM and grades are due Tuesday of next week so i will send them a transcript next week. Hopfull now that i have finished my pre reqs they will except me again lol. well hope everyones day is going great!!!

Hey there... does anybody know how many hours we'll be at the clinical? I mean, is it a 6-hour day or a 12-hour day?
