UTMB FALL 2014

I would like to start a thread for UTMB FALL 2014 since there I cannot find one. I am in the process of applying and this is the only school I am applying to. Right now, I just trying to finish my personal statement before I can submit it. I am a bit nervous and excited at the same time. So, how is everyone else doing?

I am almost certain all UTHSC students will be in a pacesetter program, which is 15mo also.

I second this statement.

Welllll when it comes to choosing between the two programs, essentially I'm choosing between a 15 month program with no summers off (which is what UTMB does, not technically called an accelerated track) and a 2 year program with summers off ( I applied to UTHSC traditional program since their accelerated requires a previous degree). I am so lost y'all, this is literally the hardest decision I've ever had to make.

The other's are correct, UTHSC only has the pacesetter now, which is a 15 month program. So I guess your decision just got harder :(

I've been there, so I feel your pain! My heart said UTMB, my head said UTHSC. I made lists and weighed out the pro's and cons of each, and basically it came down to the commute for me (moving isn't an option) and the time in which I'll finish the program (starting summer at UTHSC vs. fall at UTMB). Ultimately I decided on UTHSC and will start this summer, so I'll be giving up my spot at UTMB. Both are great schools! Either way you'll be receiving a wonderful education and be a part of a great network of students and nurses. Good luck on your decision!

Thank you all so much for the responses, but you all are talking about UTHSC San Antonio, right?

We were referring to UTHSC Houston.

Does anyone know what the weekly schedule is like

Does anyone know what the weekly schedule is like

I believe it is Monday thru Wednesday classroom and Thursday, Friday, Saturday clinicals. Anybody else have more details?

I thought they said at the open house that it was m-f in class rooms and clinicals were a part of the classroom once a week, depending. However, they did say that clinicals might seep into nights and weekends but they try to have you out of classes by. 5pm and no weekends so you can study. I mean, unless I'm wrong or they changed it.

:( I've lost hope. I'm beginning to accept that I've probably been waitlisted...

I haven't received anything either! Are you reapplying for Spring?

If you all dont mind me asking, what is included in the science gpa, what courses?

There are only like 40 in the Facebook Group right now so I think there are lots more acceptances to be sent out. Read that denials went out last week so if you haven't gotten that then you should still be in the running for a spot. I also know of 3 who have gotten accepted and are taking spots elsewhere so those will open up also. Hang in there and don't lose hope!!!!

I think the science gpa is: chem, A&P 1 & 2, micro, nutrition. Any science prerequisite. But I'm not 100% sure.
