Nov 7, 201213 yr I thought I would start a thread for those applying to UTA for Fall 2013; AP or on-campus. I will be applying to both and am hoping to find a job at a partnered hospital before the January 5, 2012 deadline.
Jul 1, 201313 yr The nursing school that I prefer to get into in order of what I prefer first is UTA, TCU, El Centro then SWAU. I have been accepted into SWAU but with there lack of flexibility in their schedule, high tuition, and them not wanting to transfer all my credits over is many reasons why I am debating to wait and apply again to my top three choices. At SWAU, due to their lack of flexibility in course scheduling it makes it nearly impossible to have my job plus raise our baby that we are expecting in just a few weeks. Their school is tailored to individuals who have the privilege to not work or have a family. I am hopefully going to hear from El Centro this week if I got accepted to their program or not. TCU and UTA can call people off the waitlist a week before classes start which is around mid-August. I have been struggling back up plans since I found out I got waitlisted again from TCU and UTA.
Jul 1, 201313 yr Congrats on the baby on the way! It looks like you have a great plan if back ups!!..I bet TCU is pretty pricey even more than south western right? I also thought about TCU but never finished the application. I hope they call you from UTA soon! I know of someone who got called the day before class started for the on campus program!
Jul 1, 201313 yr Well after help from grants and scholarships TCU comes out to be the same as Southwestern but TCU would work with my work schedule at Cooks. Obviously, I would love to get the call from either UTA or TCU because those schools would work with my work schedule unlike SWAU but I think I'm just not competitive enough unfortunately.
Jul 1, 201313 yr Author I start at Cook in the NICU on the 15th. I never thought I would even get an interview with them.
Jul 1, 201313 yr It took me a year of applying to all the positions I could to final get an interview. The NICU is pretty cool. I'm starting my maternity leave on the 15th but after 6 weeks I'll be back and maybe we week run in to each other. Cooks is such a wonderful place to work!

I will be working in the milk bank so I will be easy to find. Congrats and good luck with the baby.
Jul 3, 201313 yr All if this gives me hope. I work for THR and was devastated when I realized the partner program was gone. I have a 3.6 and am practical enough to know that without some consideration ( my only 1 would be 30 hours at UTA ( IF they counted Spring 2014 classes) I am more than likely not going to get in. I researched other options and found an ADN via El Centro. Once done the bridge UTA offers will be my choice! Still ending up with a BSN from UTA ( my starting goal) just going a different route. I like that El Centro is tailored to working students! Not all nursing students can stop their life and do school and nothing else. Good luck to everyone. BTW... Have a friend in the NICU at Cook. She loves it!
Jul 3, 201313 yr I'm about to hear from the ADN program partnership with El Centro. I also work for THR so I applied for that program as well. Decisions went out Monday.
