UofT 2013

Is anyone else applying to the compressed nursing program at University of Toronto this year for entrance in September 2013? I want to start a thread so we can see when people get accepted and what their grades are like. Good luck to everyone!

Hi, I have met with U of T a few times over the last few months to help me decide if I want to continue with my education there and the admissions officer there stated that acceptances are handed out in mid to late April at the earliest.

Ah really?! I saw posts from last year that said people started getting accepted mid/late march. I hope we start hearing back soon!

Yup, but in the email that they sent out a little while ago it said that offers are going to be distributed between April 1 and June 30.

I received my acceptance email earlier today. I guess they've started.

Good luck.

Wow congratulations! Would you mind sharing your gpa and other stats :)?

I got accepted too. My average was only an 82% in the last 5 FCE, but I've been working in a lab for the past 2 years, finish my degree this year and have a lot of volunteer experience. I also handed in 5 references to boost my chances.

First off, a BIG congrats to those who received a letter or email!!

I know the acceptances just started going out but wow I am really nervous right now about my chances. I thought my average was fairly strong (3.8/4.0), but I'm worried now because it seems people who received grades in this range were offered admission. I wonder if it might be because of my stats course since although it was on the list, there was no credit value assigned to it. I sent them an email asking if it was acceptable, to which they replied it should not be a problem. I did it at UofT as well, so I find it weird that it did not have a value. It doesn't help that it was my weakest prerequisite mark (a C+), sticking out like a sore thumb on my pre-req list. I took this course when I was still a very young and naive student. I spent the last couple of years trying to pull my marks up so it will bother me if this course was indeed my undoing for this year's cycle. In hindsight, I should have retaken the course to get rid of that mark.

Lisa 87, I'm sure you'll hear back soon. It looks like U of T is taking marks and supplementary applications into account. Do you have good research/volunteer experience? Your marks seem great so I'm sure that's not the problem. Like I mentioned before, my average in the last 5 credits was not very competitive and I was expecting to hear back in May or June, when they had received my current semester's marks. My lowest prerequisite grade was a B and the rest were A's and A+'s. Looking at past forums, I haven't seen anyone with an average as high as yours not get accepted. I hope you hear back soon!

Also, I received an email response from U of T today about another question I had, and they said as of today they've finished handing out their first round of acceptances, but they're planning to hand out more very soon. So, there's lots of time:)

Ya no problem.

I graduated from UofT with my B.Sc (Hons) in physiology. 3.4 cGPA, 3.9 in my last year. Lots of volunteer experience ranging from a medical clinic in Haiti to shadowing a physician. All my prerequisite courses were A- to A+ apart from my stats which was B+.

Hope this helps, good luck.

Hello everyone!

I have only applied to U of T. My average is like 3.9 I think (using the med school table?) and I am in my fourth year of a BA Hon. Psych. We shall see! The wait is killing me!

Also, I was a research student and volunteer with the Canadian Cancer Society... I am sad to see they have already sent out a batch :(

Just got my offer via email to uft! This was my first choice so I am very happy and will be accepting this offer.

My last year average was an 86.2% and my pre req marks were in mid to high 70s. I had graduated from BSc Kinesiology last April. I didn't have a very extensive list of volunteering so I was nervous that would be an issue into getting accepted .
