UCLA MECN Fall 2020

Hello All!

I'm applying to UCLA's MECN program this year for Fall 2020. Who else is applying? I hope we can all support each other through this process. ?

What are some of the questions you may have about the application process?

I have an interview for USD MEPN this Friday, interview for Rush university next Friday, and waiting to hear back from USF and UCLA. So exciting and nerve-wracking!

... UC Davis ... I got accepted. Waiting for USF, UCLA, and UC Irvine. Which do you all think are the best programs?

This really depends on your definition of "best." If you go by USNews rankings then it is UCLA (20), UC Davis (46), Univ of San Fran (77), and UC Irvine (87).

That said, it really comes down to which program will get you to your end goal best. I know I did not apply to UCI because they are focused on developing nurse researchers, which, at this time, I am not very interested in doing as a career. I know UCLA has a good name because I've told people who are RNs and they recognized UCLA and said it was a good school. Johns Hopkins would get "prestigious" comments. I liked UC Davis because from what I read, I liked their teaching approach and it was only eighteen months.

Other than that, you'll need to consider cost, location, job opportunities, if you want to do more advanced studies such as APRN, program length when you would like to start working as an RN, and so forth.

End of the day, what I think is best, which would be for me, may not be best for you. Research the schools, go to the information sessions, talk to people, and trust your instincts.

And congrats on UC Davis. I assume their medical school is next to their hospital so you won't get to go to Bike City.

I applied to four schools: UCLA, UCI, USD, and Western University. I have an interview with USD this week. I haven't heard back from any of the other schools yet. Right now I am leaning towards UCLA as my top choice.

I also applied for MECN 2020. Waiting anxiously to hear back!! Good luck everyone! Will everyone come back and post here if you got in?

Hi everyone! I’m an applicant for the APRN program but I’ve been watching this post closely because our decisions usually come out a few weeks after yours. Here’s hoping we all hear back soon!

I just got an acceptance email from ********! I'm freaking out. Good luck to everyone!

Ah!!! I’m in!

I’ve also received an acceptance email! Fingers crossed for everyone else.

Congrats to those who got in! Does anyone know if they send out ALL acceptance letters on the same day? Or do they do it in waves?

I was told that ALL final decisions were made by Sunday night.

With that said, I just got an email that I got in!

Good luck to everyone else!
