UCF 2010-2011 accelerated nursing program

I am applying and have requested all my transcripts, I did decent on the Teas test with an 86. Undergrad gpa 3.45, pre req 4.0

I went to the info session last month it was a bit of a pain :angryfire to sit through just to get the application passcode because of all the redundant you should do some research if your serious questions lol.

I am excited and hope to get in to move forward with my life goals of community health nursing.

I am also applying to UNF's program too. Their website is really detailed with everything I ever wanted to know. One of the few schools that have their stuff together.

I got waitlisted so I'm really bummed. Could a few of you who got in let me know your Teas test scores/ GPA information so I know what I need to improve to apply next year? I've heard that noone from the waitlist got in next year so I'm kind of fearing the worst. Congrats to all who made it!

I also feel like I have hundreds of questions, hoping to receive more information sooner rather than later. Is anyone planning on attending the CPR class in April? I'm excited to meet people before the first day so that the first day won't be so stressful.

KetuUCF- the nursing department will actually contact people on the wait list in their respective order in the case that someone decides last minute not to attend.

UFProspect- transfer orientation dates are on UCF's website at http://fye.ucf.edu/?p=trans_o

You should have also recently received a postcard in the mail with information about transfer orientation

Healthnut123- don't give up hope just yet, I have a friend who just graduated from UCF's accelerated program this past summer and she was actually wait listed originally and got called a week or so before the program started. I don't know what the cut offs were this year but my overall gpa was a 3.6, pre-req was 4.0 and teas score was a 91

Nobody should give up, UCF may not be everyone who got accepted plan A. USF, UF, UNF etc have not made any final decision on the second degree. Heck USF deadline is next week to apply for the summer. UF decision will be made next week. I have seen a lot of former Gator students apply or get accepted into UCF so do not be surprised if those folks have a change of heart if UF accepts them. Could u blame them UF is a school that is well known outside Florida so it helps with employment out of state. UNF interview for the second degree is March 12 then a week later those folks will know.

Thanks for the encouragement. I am trying to remain positive! The power of positive thinking!! I definately have not given up. I was there today to talk to some of the admissions people and have scheduled a meeting next week. It's just difficult because I had several academic advising sessions and everyone told me they thought I would be fine. So it's hard to continue to do the waiting game.

I am attending the CPR course...

Just so everyone knows ...the Orientation session that is partially online/in person is full now. The only one available for April 2nd is the full session that is all in person.

The next available date before classes start is May 14th.

I am not going up to Orlando for a BLS CPR class. It is nice to get to know others early on but I can take it in my area for $30 and save my time and money.

you can apply I asked during the info session. glad I gave it a shot and drove up to Orlando last month. Just need 3 sciences regardless of what it says on there website for the accelerated program.

Do you mean I could've applied for the UCF BSN without the Chem requirement? (which I am now taking)???? that was the only thing missing! I met with the "UCF connection" counselor in my CC, who told me I could NOT!!!!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

^Oh man yes you could have. I called first and explained I had great grades, then sent a letter as the women told me to, and I showed up at the info session and asked Alton because i never got a response from the letter. He said I could, so I stayed to listen to the rest of the session applied. I almost did not go to the info session as I planned to go before the last session of 2009. It takes me a couple of No's I feel for you though cause of what the site says. The couselor probably was told the same then something changed again. I cant imagine how ****** you are.

so flipping frustrating when you make appointments, meet w counselor, think you r doing everything right, when you aren't... I'm telling you, Had I been a counselor and done something like that, I would've been fired! That's just my luck!! lol

What is everyone doing for housing? I spent an entire day today looking at apartments around UCF and I truly wasnt impressed by many at all. Im finishing undergrad at UF, and the apartments around here are not only much more affordable but they are all around and easy to sign a lease.

Half the places I visited didn't allow summer leases unless you were to sublease, a couple of places very close to campus were full on capacity, and not many places come furnished like they do in Gainesville. If anyone is looking for roommates PM me and we can talk, id rather be with people in my program then random UCF people.

Hey everyone! Man I wish I had read some of these posts last week when I was freaking out waiting to hear from UCF! I thought I was the only one. I know someone had said they received a postcard about orientation, I haven't gotten anything except for the CPR email. I of course had just taken a CPR course and they're not sure I would have to re-do it through their company, figures. :uhoh3:

When I attended UCF (graduated in 2003 so it's been a while) I lived in The Gatherings and they were pretty nice then. Far enough away to not be a major party place but close enough to get to class on time. I know the semester is going to be CRAZY but we can all get through it, right?!? :)

For the person asking about grades and such, I have a 3.6 cumulative GPA, 4.0 for the science pre-reqs, and got an 88 on my TEAS. I was honestly thinking my cumulative wasn't good enough but apparently it was! I keep checking my emails, mailbox, etc. for any information about the program. I think it's so weird that we have to go thru another orientation, especially since we've all been through the process before. I have tried registering for orientation twice now and both times an error message comes up, "Invalid SIS/ First name/ Last name". I don't know if this is referring to my PID, but I triple checked it and that's not the issue. I hope to get into the one in April, I really need to figure out my class schedule so I can find childcare for the summer! (My son is going into kindergarten in fall). Any other moms with young ones out there? I'm nervous but so excited! I live in Oviedo right off Alafaya UCF is not too far.
