Tulsa Area

Andrea- OU Health Sciences Center offers a BSN in Tulsa. You have to go thru admissions in OKC but apply for the Tulsa Program. It's less competitive because most people want to stay in OKC. I recently went to an application seminar and they encouraged everyone to apply to all three programs (OKC, Tulsa, & Lawton) to improve their changes of acceptance. Give them a call- I'm not sure if the info for Tulsa is online. I've also read on other threads about Langston's Tulsa program- people are happy with it as well.

There are a few other schools in the Tulsa area as well. Tulsa Community College and OSU-Okmulgee both have ADN programs. Good luck in your search for a school!

anyone know of schools that offer ADN OR BSN options in Tulsa? I'm moving to an area called Bixby and i heard that its a suburb of Tulsa. I'd really like to go to school as close to Bixby as I can. (so i can visit home on weekends or whatever) TU and ORU are waaay to expensive, but they're the only places I can find that offer the program. Anyone know of any other schools?

Andreamae-- I'm going to school at Rogers State University in Claremore, OK... they offer an ADN option, and classes are pretty cheap! And Claremore's not too far from Bixby... Hope I helped! Lindsay

Langston University offers a BSN from their campus in Tulsa. They're part of the OSU campus just north of downtown Tulsa. I think that if you take highway 75 from Bixby, it won't be more than a half hour's drive to Langston.

The only bad part is that they had 300 people apply for 25 spots. My early college years are holding me back right now, despite the fact that I graduated from TU with a 3.8 GPA in speech-language pathology.

If I was a freshmen/sophomore again, I'd really would have appreciated it if someone had told me how early college might affect your chances of getting into a program you'd really like to be in down the line.

I started off at a Christian liberal arts college located in Arkansas about 90 miles on the Oklahoma/Arkansas border. I messed up and no one cared to tell me about what that could do to me later on. I honestly believed that they were more interested in getting your money and preparing women for the M.R.S. degree, which I didn't get until 3.5 months ago! I went to that school in the 80's!

Anyhow, I'm rambling here. Sorry. But Langston is good, and Tulsa Community College is good for the prices.

Do any of you have information about OU's online LPN-BSN program? Any information, good or bad, would be appreciated.

I am currently a student at TCC getting through prerequisites for the nursing program and starting the program in January. I am also in a CNA class at Tulsa Technology Center. After I get the ADN I am going to do the RN-BSN program at OU-Tulsa. Is anyone else out there doing the same? I want to work in the ICU.. Does anyone know if it is possible to start out there or does one have to work their way up?

As far as I know, they'll take a new grad in the ICU. I'd love to work NICU somewhere, and they've told me that they'll take new grads at Hillcrest. I've heard of new grads getting on at other places as well.

sorry for changing the conversation a bit but i am interviewing with tulsa regional and hillcrest as a long term travelling nurse, i've pretty much decided to drop hillcrest and look a bit more into tulsa regional. any thoughts?

Tulsa Regional. Terminally short staffed. Very poor managment. Now managed by Ardent,same as Hillcrest, they are determined to close it since it is not a moneymaker. Now if the Osteopath school takes it back over things may turn around.

thanks. i work in telemetry, and the two hosptials i mentioned are an option from my employer. i don't know if i have much choice in the tulsa area other than those two.

i guess if it comes down to it, i'd like to know which one is less horrible than the other one
