Has anyone transferred their license from one state to the next? If so, how long did it take you to get it? What about temp. license? I'm in the process of it and am not sure exactly when to put in my two week notice at my current job. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

I'm sure it may vary from state to state, but I FedEx'd my paperwork to TX last Wednesday, they received it Thursday, and on Friday they had assigned my temporary TX RN license (which I checked out on their website this morning). I'm slated to move down there at the end of the month and start an OR internship in mid-July, so that's one headache out of the way, at least.
Not bad, after all the horror stories out there about the TX BNE... I sure have no complaints, though! :) Hope things go as smoothly for you too.

I just did the license by reciprocity thing from New Jersey to Massachusetts, and it took maybe 2 weeks.

I have an AZ license and applied for a CA license in mid April. So far it has been 11 weeks and I am still waiting!

Arizona is a member of Nursys. You could have gone to the BON in Sacremento and actually gotten a temporary license issued that day. If it is taking that long, I would phone them and find out if they received everything.
CA requires transcripts from your nursing school, I would follow up to see if they arrived. They will not notify you if they are missing something.
You actually do not transfer your license, you will be getting a second license. When your original license is due to expire, it will be your decision whether or not to renew it.
Length of time will depend on where you are applying to.......each state differs.

I am actually doing endorsement of my license from California to Nevada. I notice that neither state is part of Nursys, which means I have to do the waiting game, right? I am sending California the form for license verification. I called the California BON & was told it could take up to 6 weeks for this to be done. YIKES! Luckily, the NV BON said that as long as I have a SSN and have not answered 'yes' to any of the eligibility questions on the application, then I can get a temp. license while I wait for the permanent one.
CA uses Nursys for verifiation of licenses.............

Your temporary license was assigned. I would think the BNE is still in the process of verifying your background check/fingerprint cards. Keep your fingers crossed and keep in touch with them until you get your permanent license. (I've lived here eight years and have heard plenty of horror stories!)
And good luck in your OR internship! :)

Yes. Don't be intimidated. It was pretty easy for me, and only took about 2 weeks. Costly though.
