Time for a change

Well, I finally did it...I quit my comfortable, predictable informatics job for a position in the ED. Am I crazy? Possibly, but it was time. I graduate in May as an Acute NP and I want to be working in the field I aim to work in when I graduate, which will be either critical care or emergency medicine. Best part, believe it or not, is the pay. I got a 20% increase going from one department to another in the same hospital, the most I've ever gotten for a transfer. I missed it....the camaraderie, the crazy, the teamwork. Sitting behind a desk has made me depressed and demotivated. So...hola to all the ED nurses!

Congratulations! Enjoy the next phase...with extra money in your pocket!

Doubt you'll regret getting in there and increasing your exposure to the type of environment you'll soon be practicing in as an NP. Hope you make some good connections for future job prospects while you're at it.

Not crazy at all. Best of luck!

You are not crazy, just following your dream! Congrats and good luck!

Doesn't get much acute-r than a full moon, ER night! Best of luck. The job change might benefit you if your hospital has a tendency to place NPs in the non-acute urgent care track.
