This is a placenta...

Trying to be empathetic, but I. Just. Can't.

Giving birth is amazing.. but swimming in all those fluids just makes me want to :barf02:

Oh heeeeeeeeeeellllllll no!

DISgusting idea: Everyone get into the tub! Blech, blick, blargh!

I can see the dad being crazy enough to do it, but to make your two other kids get in?

Uh, no.

YESSS. I saw that, too. Why why why???

I love that the kids are totally into it. No doubt they'll look back on that picture as adolescents and be absolutely scarred for life.

I like the Pepsi that is mere inches from the blood streaked counter area..

Why waste a perfectly good placenta on painting when it could have been dinner???

Yeah, I think they need an infection control consult.

I actually took at look at the parent blog when I came across this image (don't ask how/why). Apparently that placenta had been deep frozen until the day it's rightful owner decided, "You know what this placenta might be fun for? Crafting!"

So she made this terrible painting of a flower. I mean what do you even do with something like that?

They need to frame the painting and hang it in the child's bedroom. They also need to bronze the placenta and also put that along side the painting. That way the child can be forever traumatized.

During play date:

"Aww, what a cute finger painting. Did Joey make that?"

[beams with pride]. "Nope, I did. With little Joey's deep frozen placenta."

If it hadn't been labeled as a placenta,,,,,,, it looks a lot like the torture device used by Niska on Mal in a Firefly episode; spider looking thing attached to the chest wall that sent out similar lines of burning pain. This episode should not be the first one to watch, lol.

Just had the very amusing thought: on the other side of the camera, there could very well be a grossed out L&D nurse putting on her nursing poker face and thinking 'Non-judgment...just smile and nod...and then I can go vomit in a trash can...'

This is one of the awesomest, geekiest things I've heard on AN.

Yes, placenta prints are a thing. So is placenta encapsulation. It takes training and certification and not too many people do it, so there's good money in it. I've toyed with the idea of doing it.

And I made pancakes once for my family using leftover breastmilk.

I am wondering how Lady Gaga could/would approach this subject matter? Not just because of her meat dress, either. Just, well, she's very creative about doing costumes with themes. And she is a trifle weird, so the premise of Placenta-As-Fashion wouldn't put her off in the least!

I think the tattoo makes it look like a likely candidate as a stand-in for a macrame skull-cap with a tail, or a one-armed, tatoo'd octopus.
