You dont need to start up smoking and drinking, you need to check out other schools in different areas. Maybe, you can go to an LPN first.

I waited for over 10 years to finally go back to school for nursing. I was disappointed when I did not get accepted in the 4 schools that I had applied to. Instead, I went to school to become a nutrionist, but I knew in my heart, I really wanted to be a nurse. I did not drink nor smoke because I knew my situation would not have changed. What I did instead, I prayed to God because I know He has the answers. Smoking and drinking will make your problems worst because you could damage your liver, and the smoking can cause cancer.

Start looking at other schools. If you really want to be a nurse, you can even move to a different state, if you have to so you can pursue your dream. Dont pick up bad old habits.....your body will be happier.

You should not go back to drinking and smoking. First I want to say great decision. Quitting is one of the best things you can do. Do not restart no matter what. Like Future nurse said, check out all of your options. Maybe you will have to take a detour, but the point is getting there. I know how I planned to do it all is looking like a horrible rough draft. It may take me longer than I planned, but I want it and I'm going to make it work. God does have all of the answers. He is who I'm seeking in this situation and you should too. I will keep you in my prayers and it will be ok.

Tell me if I'm wrong but, I think the coloradogirl and stpauligirl are both talking about drinking and smoking in a joking manner. I would have said something similar had she not said it first, and I am rabidly anti-alcohol! (Don't get me started about what I see as a one of America's biggest problems) I would not mean for her to really go drink to solve her problems.... it would be a joke.:beercuphe :cheers:

Did you see the smiley after her question whether she should take up drinking or smoking and did you see my smiley after my response? I guess you "didn't get it"? Why are you so cranky.....please don't let your unhappiness out on other people. Sorry you experienced difficulty getting into nursing school but that is not my problem. Lighten up for heaven's sake! Watch more Judge Judy (love her cynism) and a little more Bluecollar TV and you'll be alright soon.
