Teas Test

you can take the TEAS 3 times, with at least 31 days between each. the test doesn't change...same questions. I would suggest (as long as you have the time) take the test, bring a notebook and pen and the second you are done, run out in the hallway and write down every question you can remember. (use the extra time after each section to go back and try to "memorize" some of the ?'s you aren't sure about)

eat something for breakfast, even if you feel too nervous to eat! read the questions carefully.... the science portion is not going to be what you expect, i had one anatomy question...i think it had to do with the pancreas. the rest were life science type questions...that i had in 7th & 8th grade:confused:...the math part was fairly easy, but a little tricky. if you have this : like 7:4...it is division...i forgot & thought it was ratio...there are a couple of math questions that are time consuming, you read the paragraph...joe is going to sew a shirt, he needs three yards of fabric, 6 buttons blah blah blah....then there is a list of all the things he needs with the prices, you have to calculate it all up

1 yard of fabric...$2.50...joes needs 3 yards...

pkg. of 2 buttons...$1.75...joe needs 6 buttons......that sort of thing.

there will be some tricky spelling words, they all look right. brush up on the periodic table. i had a question on zinc...how many electrons, protons...

i went on that test preview site also and they also give you a book to order from http://www.mo-media.com/teas/ its really not all that. its not an actually book but like a pamplet that you can easily copy at kinkos or something. the only reason why i choose this over ati's is a little cheaper and they offer you a guarantee like if you dont get the score you want they will reimburse you. i didnt know i was going to just get a 200 page pamplet thing. on the upside its pretty neat it really goes over alot of the science and chemistry part as i hear ati does not. also the math and english part they give you all the equations and commonly mis-spelled words on the test. so in that aspect a neat think to have but i wanted a book really. your not suppose to do this but i can scan a couple of pages out of it and send it to you i was thinking of giving it to the nursing school lol as its sooooo easy to just copy the whole thing lol and have someone else use it. well i hope this helps ty

Ive never taken Chem or Physics and have been out of HS for about 17 years. I suck at Math and Im petrified of this test. I generally test well and am good at deductive reasoning, but taking a few of the practice tests, Im realizing that wont really help me if I have no idea what is going on LOL

So... this whole test thing JUST came up (through Kaplan in San Diego) and have to test by the 19th at the latest. I have a 4 yr old at home, so will only be able to study half @**ed through the day and then once he goes to bed. I need an 80% overall to even be considered. How doable is that in the limited time that I have? I read every post in this thread and there was some great information! Thanks guys!

I will be purchasing both the Kaplan 2nd Edition mentioned as well as the ATI. Any HONEST feedback would be appreciated.

Also... does anyone know the rules for retesting in California? Is it a full year or the 31 days that some have mentioned.

Heather 859206---I have heard alot about this Ivy Tech school on these boards. Is it super-competitive? Is this your first time applying for NS? When do you expect to get 'the letter'? The LPN program I applied to is coming into its second year and its the first year they have used the TEAS as its entrance test. I asked what are the scores needed for admission and I was told the top 18 scores make the cut. I was told there's something like 50 people applying and even though I was told an 81 is still good, I'm very anxious to see if I get in or not. Letters don't go out till the first week of June. Gosh, I HATE waiting!

Ivy Tech is very competitive. Its a community college here and credit hours cost about $95. VERY cost efficient and rates don't go up once you start the nursing program. I believe they only accepted myabe 50-60 students this semester for the ASN program. They don't go by GPA, but rather by a points system where you are awarded points based on grades, TEAS, etc.

I like it though :)

I am super nervous for this though. I am planning on taking it sometime in March, but after going to testprepreview.com and seeing some of the math questions I am freaking.

"Sally can paint a house in 4 hours. John can paint the same house in 6 hours. How long will it take for them to paint it together."

Now, I am a math whiz. I consistently score very high As and I have absolutely not a clue on how to work this problem out!!

hello everyone my name is Keith an im applying to Cochran for the second time and i wanted to know the best and most effective way to study for the science section of the test. I would also like to know what this section consist of because I wasn't given that section to take my first time around. My bad time management in these easy math questions cost me my first admission. I have the fortified my math skills and Im more than ready this time around but i have no idea of what to study for in the science part of the test. Does it consist of A&P 1 and 2 or chem or physics or both. Please this is very important that i pass this test. I have a child on the way and hes going to get everything his dad didn't. Ok....the science portion on my test was mostly general science. There was only 1 ANP question. It was a lot of deductive reasoning. Keep in mind that not every test is the same, so what was on my test may not be on yours.

Don't go into this test with a back up plan. That is kind of like going into a marriage with the idea of "If it doesn't work out, I can get divorced." It's almost setting yourself up for failure.

80% is very doable. I did a basic brush up on skills and passed with a 91%. It is a lot of math. My test had a lot of ratio:proportion type questions. Honestly, I studied from a 5th grade math website and it helped me sooooo much!! The science section in the ATI practice book was very similar to the questions on my test. Pay special attention to the graphs and charts because you will see them, or some very similar on the actual test. Be mindful of your time in the math section. If you find yourself taking too long, make a note of the question number and go back at the end of the math section before you hit continue. Once you hit that continue button, you can't go back to the math section.

The biggest thing....get a good night's sleep before the test. Eat a healthy breakfast....and take a deep breath and relax. You will be fine.

The first time i took the test i spent to much time on math questions and literally didnt get to half the math test. This time around its going to b different. I have been studying a lot of a&p and im going to continue doin so cuz like u said, not two test are alike. Thank you so much for your valuable support. that's when i'm taking it but at a different college. i bought the study guide book from the ati website and it's useful. i suck at math so that's what i'm really trying to concentrate on. good luck!
