My girlfriend graduated from nursing school several years (16) ago. She told me the graduating nurses jumped into the school's swimming pool dressed in scrubs; during a "traditional" ceremony. I asked why? She said "it's a tradition"...
This wasn't a religous school, so it wasn't a baptism.
Has anyone else ever heard of this? Can I get a better why answer?
Thanks

This sounds like a school tradition. I'd bet you would have to find someone "in the know" from the same school to find out.

Well, since it has zero to do with nursing school traditions, it must be something someone got it in their head to do one year, and everyone else followed suit! And whalah, a "tradition" is born :)
Hope they were wearing white, considering the effect chlorine might have on navy blue....

At my school the students hang their uniform tops across the top of the parking deck....not sure when that "tradition" started. I chose to give mine to friends behind me in school so they wouldn't have to spend money on them.

Never heard of it! We didn't have a swimming pool though unless you count the PT/OT pool...
What, no "traditional" swimming pool?? LOL....OT/PT had one? Well! We didn't even have a kiddie wading pool to blow up!

I've never heard of this tradition, though I must comment that it sounds like plenty of fun. I attended a hole-in-the-wall school in the concrete urban jungle of Van Nuys, California. This roach-infested school had no swimming pool to speak of. :uhoh21:

I'm sure it's a tradition unique to that school. Many colleges have different traditions. I don't really get why this needs to be explained...
Heck, at the university where my best friend graduated, they have Senior Streaks every year a few days before graduation. The seniors run naked across the campus while EVERYBODY stands on the sidelines cheering them on. We're talking fellow students, professors, neighbors, etc. :uhoh21:

we had a huge bonfire and burned our nursing school smocks on the last day of school. just to let out tension of being done. A new tradition? MAYBE
Actually, our college didn't have one---the hospital we were affiliated with had a therapy pool
