Summer 2017 Chat

Hi there! This thread is for anyone, anywhere that wants to chat about summer courses they are taking. This is our THIRD iteration of semester chat!

What's your schedule like this summer? Any TEAS or HESI preppers?

I'm taking three courses over 5 weeks. Texas Government (online), Chem II (lecture only, on campus) and Music Appreciation (online). School starts for me on June 6, ends July 7.

I'm also taking the TEAS on May 30th, so I'm prepping for that. And all my nursing school applications are due on August 1, so I'm working on that, too.

Hope everyone is well!

xo,

Jen

I am also starting nursing school in the fall(pre req free)! last one is micro for me!

I'm taking my last non nursing course this summer, physiology :) I'm so happy but so nervous at the same time. I can't recall ever taking a summer class so I'm worried I won't be able to keep up even though it's only one course.

My school is on the quarter system. There are only about 2 weeks left of the Spring quarter (I'm finishing up a 1-credit independent psych study) and then I am scheduled to take my TEAS test on June 16th. I'm super excited, but also very nervous!

After I take the TEAS, I should know in a few weeks if I made it into the Fall quarter start of my school's RN program.

Hey Jen, for my summer courses I'm taking a mental health nursing class and a Nursing concepts and Clin l. Wish me luck lol. Seems like a lot crammed into 10 weeks.

I'm not taking any classes this summer. Instead I'm just using the summer to relax and be class-free until I (hopefully) start the nursing program in the fall. So far I've been spending my break waiting on my acceptance/denial letter to the program, so there hasn't been much relaxing yet :/ hopefully I can enjoy my summer off more once my letter comes.

I am taking Chem/Lab this summer. Physio and Micro will be this fall...then all my prereqs are done :) Im going to apply this fall for the spring though..worst case if I don't have enough points I'll apply again in the spring after my last two sciences are done. I would love to start the nursing program come spring, so Im crossing my fingers about my application this fall!

This is so ridiculous, but I'm so restless without any school stuff to work on.

Same here... I did a bunch if spring cleaning and orgranizing. This house is *spotless*. I am driving my fiance crazy lol I have thought about picking up a new hobby, but figure why?? I wont have enough time for it here soon enough.

Same! Summer classes don't start for a couple weeks yet and I'm going stir-crazy. I printed all the power points one of my class has uploaded and am reading over them to keep myself occupied. :)

You can come finish my online class for me! It's technically 8 weeks long but I have to finish it in 2. So far I'm done with the first 5 weeks and have written 5 papers, taken 5 exams, and read over 300 pages of my textbook + countless articles in the past 7 days. I'm literally going insane, mainly because I despise writing papers and online classes. lol Definitely a classroom/interactive learner.

What did you say your first degree is in? I'm so blown away by the amount of course work you can handle. It's freaking INSANE!!

Is this directed at me? haha If so, my first degree is in Musical Theatre! :) Idk I guess it's partly because I've always done a lot? From a very young age I began playing club and school soccer year-round, competing in both club and school track/cross country, taking private voice and piano lessons, taking dance and acting classes, performing in several musicals a year, and managing all AP and honors courses once I entered high school. And yes, the majority of this was done at the same time. lol So I guess I just developed really good time management skills throughout the years and like I said, when you're used to doing a lot at one time you don't really know anything different. haha ;) I try to stay organized and my planner goes with me EVERYWHERE. And I make sure to bring my books with me to work so that in my downtime I can, for example, make flashcards for A&P and such and review previous lectures. I learn and absorb quickly, though, so I know that helps!
