Stressed out and Getting Out

Published

I am making the most of this beautiful and unusually cool August morning, by sending out resumes to prospective employers. Why? because the stress level has gotten so bad where I work, that people are actually exchanging fisticuffs with each other. Only two days before, our supervisor had had a staff meeting, to publicly announce her concerns with Upper Management "at all levels"...and to hold an improptu Stress Management seminar. It didn't and isn't working. A co-worker and I aren't even speaking to each other, after I turned her in a couple of weeks ago, for flying into me for "having less work than she did". Give me a break! :angryfire

I don't need this s---. I even applied for positions at Wal-Mart and at another retailer yesterday. I have had enough , and am getting out, while I still have the sanity to do so. :(

Walmart is looking promising in my area too!

Wow... this is scary.

Terribly tragic.... what a loss. The health industry had better read the writing on the wall and make some serious changes FAST. :stone

There are a lot of nurses now working iin the post office (because of higher alsaries and union benefits) in my area due to the very same stressors...Man I know say they would never go back to nursing...That is so sad, but I can understand it..

What was that old song, another one gone and another one gone and another one bites the dust. I am so sorry you feel you must make this change to maintain your sanity. I hope it works out for you. I am sure there are people who will miss your skills and compassion.

your place sounds like it's in crisis mode!

your supervisor discussed concerns re: upper mgmt??????

i should say, get the hell out of there.

and work at walmart for a rest....

but not all places are as horrific as where you are.

if they were, there would be none of us left.

right now, it's just a shortage.

but give mgmt and our govt time....nsg will be in crisis mode very soon.

where you work sounds totally barbaric. yes, go.

So sorry you're going through this. The first priority right now is YOU. No job is worth your life and your health. Get out, take time to heal. Another better path will surely open for you.

CseMgr1,

I can totally relate. I wish you greener pasures and smooth sailing wherever you decide to go.

I've been where you are too...totally fed up and in need of a major change. Best wishes whatever you decide to do, and let us know how things go for you.

Thanks guys. I didn't realize just how badly the stress was affecting me..until I woke up on Monday morning with the migraine from

hell. I barely had time to leave my supervisor a voice mail to call out, when I had to throw up..again. I was deathly sick for the next ten hours (couldn't even keep down the Phenergan tablet I had taken), and when I finally began to feel halfway human again, I told myself that this is no way to live...and that I have got to get out. :o

My supervisor confided to me just last week, that she's seriously thinking about leaving, too. And, just yesterday, one of our clerks (and one of the few who didn't b---- every time she was asked to do something) was fired yesterday...after 13 years with the organization. Go figure. :uhoh3:

Wow! Hope you find something better soon.
