Stony Brook Basic BSN Fall 2012

Hello everyone!

I applied to Stony Brook's Basic (2-year) BSN program 3 weeks a go and thought it may be helpful to start up a forum.

If you are:

currently applying or plan on applying, a former applicant, a current SBU student, I'd love to hear from you!

Has everyone finished their perquisites? Does anyone else have a not so competitive GPA (like me)? Does anyone know who is considered a competitive applicant? Where is everyone else applying?

I look forward to speaking with everyone and hopefully entering the Fall '12 class together!

Yes, I got that same e-mail, too. GAH!

Yea, I got the same email.

I got the same email as well

I have a feeling we'll hear today!

Although I said that the last Monday, and of course, we didn't.

I am applying to a school in Australia just in case this doesn't work out, so I guess I have a backup plan. I'd definitely prefer to get into SBU, though... Good luck everyone.

If you do your studies overseas make sure you get clinical and theory hours in Paeds, mental Health, Obstetrics and Adult. They will be required to meet US state requirements. Seen a few Australian nurses post difficulties meeting US requirements because short in Paeds and Obstetric hours. You will always be classed as a international trained nurse and requirements may be different when moving from state to state

Mid-May?!?! That's nuts.

I got that email also I'm so frustrated more then ever my stomach is in knots

I'm really upset I recieved that email too ^, seriously?!... the wait period is ridiculous at this point.

hey alvin, did you hear back from BU? I did. can u believe it, they dont even have a wait list for dson.

Hi Lindu007, they do have a wait list. I was placed on the wait list for the accelerated nursing program at BU. In the letter I received, it stated that if any open spaces become avaible they will review application again and inform me by May 20.

this might be the most ridiculously long wait i've ever endured. don't they give a damn that people need to make other plans if we dont get into sbu....

All I know is that I got that email at school yesterday and I couldn't even concentrate the rest of the day

Now I have to put a non refundable deposit down to another school and loose the money if I get into sbu
