  1. someone else had asked about this a few pages back, too--my gpa for science prereqs was 3.95 but my cumulative for undergrad was not nearly as impressive. i have volunteered both at Massachusetts General Hospital when I was living in Boston and I am very active in my volunteer ambulance company here on LI (I'm also an EMT). i got recommendations from two former employers and a doctor i work for. truthfully, i have no idea how they pick their people--this was my second year trying to get in and something finally paid off :) i definitely think the volunteer experience helps, though.
  2. i also have a question about the schedule. is it possible to be working part-time while doing this program? i'm going to try to work something out with my job.
  3. hey guys, i just got my acceptance letter as well and paid my deposit. congrats to all who got in! i am with lisagemini in starting a facebook page...i think that would be a great idea in order to get to know our class :) for those who weren't accepted, keep applying. this was my second year applying to SBU. don't give up!
  4. My last name starts with a B, and I found out VERY early this morning.
  5. @dollface4K6, does Farmingdale have an accelerated BSN like Stony Brook? Or is it just RN to BSN? I'm not from Long Island originally, but I'm moving down to (FINALLY) be with my fiancee. I only applied to Suffolk and SB because I didn't really know about the other schools around!
  6. we'll get in next year, dbabklyn! :)
  7. no, i just checked solar today, and next to "view applicant information" there was a new button that said, "view admission decision" or something like that
  8. well, no news is good news, right? i'm crossing my fingers for you guys!
  9. Well, I didn't get in this year, despite having a nearly perfect GPA for all my prereqs. I AM out of state, so maybe that had something to do with it? Huge bummer. I'm going to shoot for the accelerated next year, since I'm completely done with prereqs now. Did any of you find out?
  10. Hi guys, I would check SOLAR, I received my decision today.
  11. Yes, I got that same e-mail, too. GAH!
  12. BioD, I also got my Suffolk letter today. Was it good news? I'm an Out Of State resident so I knew they probably weren't going to accept me. I'm crossing my fingers for SB :)
  13. Hi there fellow SB applicants, I am brand new to allnurses, and I just had to post here because I'm feeling your pain...still no e-mail for the fall basic program! I told a friend yesterday that if someone wants to torture me, this is the best way to do it I also applied to Suffolk Ammerman day and night. Does anyone know off hand if they have a spring admission (just in case)? I already have a BFA, but I'm learning that stellar grades/degree/volunteer experience doesn't guarantee acceptance. x E
