Started the application process and seriously want to vomit.

I've been a nurse for nearly three decades and have decided to go back for my BSN. Honestly, it's more for job security than anything but I'm a fan of furthering my education so there you have it. I can't be the only one here who was suddenly overwhelmed by severe anxiety at the idea of going back to school. I'm honestly terrified. I don't even want to tell anybody I'm doing this in case I fail at it. Truth be told this is the third time I've started the process but bailed the first two times before actually submitting the app. I've gotten all the way to getting ready to schedule the intake interview this time and I'm determined to do it but the thought of this literally brings bile up into my throat. Am I a freak?

No, you are not a freak! I have thirty years between my AAS and my BSN (also through WGU!). It was the best option I could have chosen. Take a deep breath and plunge in!

Its was kinda scary when I did it, but it ended up not being a big deal. Go for it! Best wishes!

You'll never regret getting your BSN. You will, however, regret not doing it.

Relax. With your background, you've got this.

Definitely do it!! And WGU is not scary or stressful at all, as it's all on your own pace. No group projects either. :)

I can't imagine the pressure to have to go back to school to get your BSN, especially as you are well-established in your career. I am getting my 2nd Bachelor's and I am simply sick of school. It makes me not even want to go any further. I am tired of the run around and having to do all the busy work and other things that chap my booty that I can't bear the thought of having to do this again for an MSN or DNP. Ugh....so no, you're not a freak. But after working as long as you have, this thing is going to be a snap for you. Good luck! :)

Thank you for all of your kind words. I'm glad I'm not a freak but I am so very much still terrified of this. So much has changed since I went to university ( I went for two years prior to going to the diploma school from which I graduated). Adding to my anxiety is that, although I'm no slouch with technology, the last college level paper I wrote was on a typewriter!!! I'm afraid I'm going to need a bit of hand-holding until I get my footing.

The good news is that WGU has all manner of tech-type help available to students. When i enrolled, the only 'cut-and-paste- I had EVER done was with actual scissors and paste! Watch my graduation speech if you like- it tells a little bit about my journey.

That was AWESOME MMJ!!

I just watched the video and made me feel good as I am 51 and want to get my education started. Maybe WGU will be the right choice.
