In some of the various Anatomy Discussions topics, some of us have posted stating we don't know how we'll feel until we take that first test! Most of us should have taken it by now this semester...so, how'd you do?!
I was so nervous for the fact that I could never remember one time I had taken it a test over THREE chapters at one time, not to mention containing Chemistry...I've always been running scared from that messy stuff! All in all, I studied my behind off and pulled off an 85! It was 60 questions, that was nerve-racking and a bit relieving at the same time, meaning I had a tiny bit of breathing room, with it being more questions. I was really aiming for an A, but there's only so much studying you can do...if I went on anymore, I probably would have choked once the test was handed to me. I kept beating myself up, feeling like everyone probably did better than I did, but I heard a lot of talk from people, about how they made a 70 or a few points higher...it seems mean, but it made me feel a little better.
I hope all of you did well!

Congrats on the good score!
I have my first A&P test on Wednesday. I'm so nervous!
It covers 4 chapters (basics, chemistry stuff, DNA, cells), so I have tons of studying to do (on top of what I've already done )

My 1st test is next week so we'll see. 3 chapters plus extra material.
Good luck to those taking tests these days!

I have my first test next Wednesday and I also have a lab test, it will cover the skeletal system. I also have a test in my other two course that week. It is going to be a long week. Good luck everyone on your tests!!!

Yay for an 85! I've had 2 (accelerated A&P) and pulled an 86 and an 84. I was actually disappointed, since I was really hoping for an A in the class. I still have time though, hopefully we'll both get there! I too felt silly getting upset about a B, but A&P is so much information I think it's really hard to know what questions are going to be tested. It's sort of luck of the draw.

That's awesome girl! You studied and you did great. Don't doubt yourself, just stay calm and your first thought is usually the right answer. Just stay focused and think about getting into nursing program.

Congrats on your 85!
I'm only taking 2 classes - intro to psych and a&p. But I'm also a homeschooling mom of 3 (all said so you get a vague idea of how much time I have/don't have to study).
I studied hard. I used all the online resources that came with the book, plus other stuff I could find on the net, and extra stuff I borrowed from a friend who took a&p last year.
The test was only officially over 2 chapters, because we skipped the chapters on chem, you were supposed to already know that stuff. So it was intro to anatomy (body regions, planes, etc) and histology.
There is always room for improvement, but I got 95.75 (he takes only a .25 off for spelling, so clearly I messed some spelling up somewhere).
Do you know how you learn best? I'm a verbal learner. So I talk a lot, in class, to my kids, to my pets. I also practice writing. I'll grab a cheap notebook and just start writing anything I can remember about a topic, then that generally leads me to something else I know. When I'm going through my flash cards, I don't just mentally answer, I use that same notebook to actually write down my answers. And I use my flash cards in both directions - I'll write down the definition of a word, then later I'll read the definition and write down the word.
It sounds like a ton of work, but if you can work just an hour at a time, every day, it's really doable. And you can work just 15 minutes at a stretch, 4 times a day, and get that hour in. Although I think I put in more like 2 hours a day in the days leading up to the exam.

That's awesome that you got a good grade! I hope I do as well on my first test. It happens to be this Friday and covers four chapters. I feel a bit burned out on studying, actually. There comes a point when I either know it or I don't and I just want to get the test done and over with. I'm not quite there yet, but not far. I'm nervous, but I'm just going to go and do the best I can. I'll report back when I get my grade, which will hopefully be a very good one.
I took my first A&P test today, it was 50 questions over 4 chapters.
I don't know my grade yet, but there were about 7 questions which I had narrowed down to 2 answers, but on all 7 I got them wrong (I looked in the book when I left class).
I breezed through the rest, so I'm hoping that I didn't miss more than 10 total, because I really want a B.
Also, I learned a valuable lesson: don't try to study 4 chapters in one night

By the way, 85 on an A&P test is a GREAT grade!

We had our first anatomy exam on the 12th and our next exam is on Monday My school offers Anat and Physio as two different courses as opposed to a A&P I and A&P II course so it is a little different from most of your classes I think! The first exam was on cells, histology, and the general intro to anat material like the different body regions and planes etc. I know there are tons of people in my class that would kill for your 85% because according to my professor over half the class failed (yikes!).
I got a 96/100 on the lecture portion, the lab portion I got a 39/40, and we had three essay topics to choose from that ranged from 5, 10, and 15 points and since I chose the one worth 15 I ended up getting a 15/5 on the essay. I got the highest score in the class which was totally awesome and rewarding since I put in probably 40 hours of study time the week of the test. I think my total score ended up being a 104%? Needless to say everyone in the class hates me now, but I could not care less! Lol.

Hi,
I just had my first A&P1 exam on Tuesday and got it back yesterday. We skipped cells and chemistry, too. So it was on basic anatomy, histology and the epidermis. I got a 146/150, which is a 97.3%!!!!! Congratulations to the person who got the highest grade in the class, I did as well.
