SPC Fall 2019

Hey, everyone! I've been looking for a thread about fall applications for SPC Nursing program, but nothing yet! It may be early, since the application period just started on March 1st, but here we go! I applied as soon as it opened , and I'm crossing my fingers until the July 1st. Anyone else applied or planning to do it soon? Let me know your thoughts and plans, we are all together in this one ? .

I just got that email about the voluntary info session and due to work probably won’t be able to make it..does anyone know how important that is or would be willing to share a little of what they talk about? ?

I also got an email from SPC too! I will let you guys know since I'm going to attend their voluntary info session. However, I was planning to attend USF Tampa for nursing school.

I received the same email, I think it’s not mandatory since they only do it for 150 ppl, but we will def let you know what happened! I’m in too for the session!

Folks I have been to the meeting you all have received invites on. If you’ve got the time I’d say go , it’s good info to have under your belt. If you can’t make it I wouldn’t sweat it. I will tell you once you are in the program they do quite a bit of extras those I would go to not only are they beneficial but they track who shows up and participates. So enjoy and learn. Best wishes and good luck to all

Greetings,

I'm new to the forum and just have a few general questions. The only class I have left in order to apply for the program is Microbiology. So, I currently have my A.A and would really like to retake a few classes to increase my GPA. Therefore, Psychology and Humanities I would need to repeat but would it actually change my grade or would I just receive credit for it?

If you make a better grade in those classes then yes you’re GPA will improve

If you’re applying to the nursing program I would only retake the ones that they use for the program calculation

I’m not sure if they only look at first attempt in classes or not. I would email/meet with a health campus advisor.

They will allow second attempts to count

Hi there,

I will have to meet with an advisor soon. But Psychology and Humanities are towards the Nursing program.

Well ask the Advisor that’s the best action I wouldn’t be relying on second hand info totally

Hi, it says on the AS Nursing guide page that you need to make your GPA and classes within 3 times, meaning you can retake classes up to 3 times to improve your grades and make it the best competitive GPA you can. So, absolutely go for it, retake those classes and finish up with Micro, and I’m sure you will be good to apply for Nursing. With any questions, as always, the best thing is to go to the advisors, I’m just giving you my 2 cents ?
