SPC Fall 2019

Hey, everyone! I've been looking for a thread about fall applications for SPC Nursing program, but nothing yet! It may be early, since the application period just started on March 1st, but here we go! I applied as soon as it opened , and I'm crossing my fingers until the July 1st. Anyone else applied or planning to do it soon? Let me know your thoughts and plans, we are all together in this one ? .

I was about to post the info they gave us, and then you asked ?. Basically, they explained how the process works, if you get selected, or alternate, or denied for program. We should all get the letter of intent June 28th- July 1st, and that we tell us if we are in or not. This letter also tells the alternates which number they are on the list, and who ever gets in can choose the day or night program and clinical sites they prefer. Alternates, if selected, can do all this later on. They also said orientation will be between July 16-18, but if selected we need to show up for that, it’s mandatory, except if the major life situations happen, obviously. 375 ppl applied for this fall, which is on the lower side, last fall it was 544, so we all stand tall in our chances. Also, they usually admit 96 ppl, but that number fluctuates, last fall it was about 126 ppl in, few more or less. They really want us to succeed, so I highly appreciate the effort from them to actually do one of these intros for us. I think that’s pretty much everything summed up, except they also talked about money issues ppl have, so be ready to pay the background check right away, $188, and then everything else will follow. Greetings, hope June passes fast?

Hey guys, how's everyone doing? June never seemed longer ?. I hope everyone's good, and we all get to celebrate soon. I was wondering about how much the real costs would be for the first semester, and if we should buy some stuff from Amazon or so, just to save some money. If there is anyone who can post on this topic, please do! Thanks you.

Patience Grasshopper patience there is a cost breakdown listed somewhere in the program. Once your spot is confirmed they’ll tell you exactly what you need and the due date. Once that happens you’ll be pretty busy so enjoy the calm before the storm right now

Haha, true! Things to work on in June: patience and relaxing before the storm ⛈. Thanks.

I'm impatiently counting down the days until June 28th! Does anyone know if they'd do day or night classes yet? I'm definitely leaning towards night classes so that I can finish the program earlier. Although I'm a little nervous about it now after the What to Expect orientation when they said they don't recommend it.

Why did they not recommend night classes? I am open to either days or nights.

I was at the orientation, and I remember them saying that first semester is intense and so much reading, learning, exams and pressure, they just think that we can appreciate summer break even more. Nights do take summer classes and finish semester earlier than days, but it’s non stop. They were mostly trying to explain the pressure and that’s why they lean toward days more than nights. Regardless, they say we can choose when they accept us, but no changing mind later or if something doesn’t work out with our choice of day or night.

Thank you for sharing the info you learned at the meeting regarding the intensity of the program and the reason they gave for potentially choosing days over nights.

Does anyone know the days and times of the night program? I think the summer is 16 weeks completed in 10 weeks, and that might be 1pm-11pm (Monday-Thursday).
