shoes recommendation

I am about to start Nursing School and I am thinking about what kind of shoes to get. Would you recommend I buy a pair and see if I like them before I have to wear them for 8 hours at a time? What do you guys think of Birkenstocks? They are ecpensive but are they worth it?

Totally worth the price in my opinion

I would go through three pairs of sneakers in two months. I thought nurse maid shoes and birkenstocks were comfortable and I could wear them for long hours. I believe each individual has their own opinion about shoes especially if they ae working 12 hours shifts. Therefore, you have to try them and see what is comfortable for you and your feet.

Have a great day,

It really just depends on what you like... I had a pair of Phat Pharm Shoes that I paid $79.99 for thought for sure they would be comfy seeing how much i paid....WRONG... They were comfy for about the first 2-3 hrs.. But you start to feel it.... well i ordered a pair of clogs TPG clogs off the net.. They were like $19.99+ shipping... WAY MORE COMFORTABLE....

If i were you i would go to the shoe store try them on walk around for a few minutes and see how it goes....

This topic has actually been discussed in quite a few places on the boards. Do a search for "shoes", or whatever brand you want (Dansko, Birks, Clogs, etc.,). You'll come up with a plethora of information. :) I just bought a pair of Danskos and ordered a second. I think they're the most comfortable thing I've ever had on my feet.

Pay attention to any foot "deformities" you may have, such as a really high arch or instep, or wide feet. I fall in all categories and finding comfortable shoes is next to impossible. My toes hit the tops of the closed-toe Birks and I didn't like it at all. The Birks just had too much of a slope and my toes aren't shaped quite like that.

Good luck!

on a side note, check out crocs :) . i own a pair and absolutely love them.

I agree with Jessica..I used to swear by my Nike air walking shoes until I recently bought 2 pairs of Croc's. They were cheap ($29.99) and I figured if they weren't comfortable, I wasn't out too much money. I LOVE THEM! They're super lightweight, but they have tons of support (they hold up my big butt! hehe).

Can they be worn by someone with a high arch?

Kelly

I have Nothinz. They're much like crocs, but I thought they were more comfortable. I don't think they're recommended for high arch people, though. I have fairly low arches. They are MUCH more comfortable than I thought they would be. Very light and cool. I have heard people complain that the tread is too sticky, and they catch easily on carpet. I've noticed it, but it doesn't bother me - I trip all the time anyway!!:chuckle

I have high arches Kelly and I do fine with the Crocs. The guy at the shoe store said that the material they're made of will mold to your feet (like Birk's) after you wear them for a little while. I had mine broke in the first shift I wore them!

Hi there!

I just bought two pairs CROCS and I LOVE THEM!!! My feet don't even hurt after a 12 hour shift!!

I prefer the Metro style croc!!

forget the crocs, go to payless or paylessshoesource.com, they've got airwalk clogs for $14.99 - compare these to crocs, they are almost the exact same! save 15 bucks!
