Does anyone know how I can hire an LPN for my dad in Maryland.
My my dad has a colostomy bag. It needs to be changed three times a week and help with showers. He is 88 years old.

That's really not the purpose of this website. Have you spoken with his health care provider about a potential referral for home care?

Craig's list. Call visiting nurse association. Call local hospital home health division. Most states do not permit LPNs to work independently and mandate RN oversight

He really doesn't need a nurse for that. Ask his doc about homecare.
Thank you
He has home health care for a short period of time through Medicare and 50 visits through his insurance. He needs either a CNA or an LPN according to the medical staff.

It doesn't take the skill level or education of a licensed nurse (LPN) to change colostomy bags or give showers. These are simple tasks that unlicensed people do by themselves every day across the country.
Contact your father's physician and obtain a referral to a home health company to see if a home health aide can be sent to provide this care. Good luck to you.

If he's still in the hospital, the doctor can write an order something along the lines of "Home with Home Care" and the Discharge Planner will discuss it with you.
If he's already home, call his doctor, end his office can notify the agency of your choice.
Know that the CNA service isn't going to last long, it won't be every day, and the aide will be there at most 45 minutes to an hour.
If your dad needs more frequent care or is discharged because there are no skilled needs, the agency Social Worker can give you a list of agencies to interview.
Remember, Medicare doesn't pay for homemaker services. His insurance MIGHT...I recommend you contact someone and find out. If not, you will be paying out of pocket for the service.

Most people are able to handle this task themselves. I do see that he is 88, although that wouldn't be a barrier for many. You should know that this is a task that you can do as well, op
creating an account here for this purpose is not in he spirit of this site, by the way!
