Has anyone ever been falsely accused of diversion?? I have been and fighting it for over 5 mos and now 5 addl nurses (1 from my unit!) have also. don't know if they did, and don't care. know i did not. how did you get thru it?? what was your legal strategy on the criminal aspect? BON very supportive and no discipline yet due to the addl 5 nurses with complaints for same thing at same hosp. BON doing full investigation now. Having some weird PTSD stuff with being home alone and answering door (after being arrested). Just too weird. Now getting angry. I was the easy target cuz i worked alone on a weekend program. any ideas, thoughts, direction?? thanks alot.

This is just my inexperience showing, but what is Diversion?

DIversion is "shorthand" for diverting medications-mainly narctoics-from patient use to your own purpose. In other words stealing drugs.

Wow! I hate to hear that. It sounds as though your hospital thinks it has been employing a "drug ring." Are they insane, to falsely accuse you? I certainly hope that you have a good attorney, and make full use of him/her. If you haven't, I also would recommend getting into counseling for the PTSD. That is something that can escalate in intensity if it isn't addressed early. Take good care of yourself.

Bless you, I will pray for you. Be strong. Find an attorney upon the recommendation of people you trust.

Oh My God, I am so sorry. It sounds like you have taken all the right steps. That the BON is investigating your facility speaks volumes to your strength. Can you get yourself into some counseling to talk through the PTSD?? Sounds like you may have a counter suit.

I will pray for you. Good luck.

OMG! That is scary!!! I can't imagine that happening, we always laugh how many drugs are thrown in our lockers due to inability to waste with another RN at time of administration. I can't even imagine how they reconcile our records !

I don't suppose you did any drug testing after your arrest, I know you shouldn't have to, but it may have made sense to privately obtain hair, urine and blood samples to have in your own records in case it gets ugly with BON.

Do you have a pyxis or MAR?

Will keep you in my thoughts, good luck.

Hi- I really appreciate all the nice thoughts and prayers-- keep em coming cuz i sure need them. Just paid about $400 in atty fees to ask permission to leave state for family vacation. so humiliating. My plan is to make them pay for this-- they should just not be able to do this to anyone-- it;s not right. Admin at this hospital is like living in a stephen king novel-- they rule by fear and intimidation. not cool. been nursing for over 16 years and i would have bet my life this would have never happened to me!! If anyone knows of a good nursing attorney, it looks like i need one to represent for the BON. I am already knee deep with my main atty for the criminal stuff. I am submitting random urine tests of my own accord- no one requested or required it, but like one of you said, i figure it can only help me. Thanks for all of your support. It's so weird, ya know?? My husband is awesome and supportive, but really doesn't understand the magnitude of what this means to me as a "nurse", ya know?? Thanks again to everyone who took the time for me. All the best!! Peace.

They accuse you of diversion, have you arrested, turn your life upside down and don't even request drug screening???.

:angryfire

My prayers are with you... but I hope you make them pay for this!

we use a pyxis-- and there have been a multitude of probs with the mainframe. who knows?? and records can be "doctored" also ( no pun intended!!) I also have found out that there is an emergency access in the pyxis machines for power outtages-- so the machine can be accessed without anyone knowing- What the?? All of this is so freaky.

Yeah!! when they first accused me, i agreed to submit to a screen immediately-- and did-- It came back negative. I think they expected me to refuse-- i really think they were all proud of themselves for "catching" a drug using nurse-- which apparently there is one, but it's not me. I just want this to go away, have all of the criminal charges expunged and be able to go on with my life without all of this hanging over me. It's not about the $$$ which everyone thinks I will eventually get alot of, it's about reagaining my dignity, confidence and not feeling weird everytime I give a patient a narcotic-- like i am doing something wrong. yes, I am working, just obviously not at the same place!! haha. Keeping on working-- if you can-- is what the BON actually recommends.
