Who is Sutter? As far as I know no Nurse Practice Act in any state permits the use of marijuana even with a "prescription". There actually is no such thing as a prescription for marijuana. The Dr. doing the "Prescribing" writes a note stating "Pt may benefit from use of medical MJ". BONs may have to change their positions as more states move towards the legalization of recreational use of marijuana for adults. It may become much like Alcohol which is legal but one cannot work while under the influence. Still change - especially with state agencies like the BON is slow and I wouldn't risk it.

    You could call HR and ask them anonymously. There are people with chronic pain and cancer who still work who would qualify for medical MJ. I don't see why a licensed professional should be any different. There are legit uses for it and some people can't tolerate narcotics. Why should someone be able to work while taking oxycodone which might be more impairing than if they use MJ (not at work of course).

    Yes, the previous poster is correct that there is no prescription for marijuana. At this point unfortunately, admitting to medical marijuana use can be a deal breaker for employment, and even open you up to the BON. I wouldn't even risk getting a marijuana card, with the way things currently stand.

    I am, however, planning on getting a medical marijuana card for my daughter this year. The whole marijuana situation in this country frustrates me to no end. The "medical marijuana" cards are all just a ruse for recreational use. Anyone with a hangnail and 200 bucks can get one. Which leaves people like my 11 year old daughter, who has an *actual* medical need, stuck with "dispensaries" that are really just head shops.

    Just make the stupid plant legal so we can stop with the charade. Who cares if people smoke pot, seriously. Federal legalization would support the development of more effective, targeted marijuana-derived pharmaceuticals. So people like me don't have to experiment with unregulated extracts on my child. And people who just want to get high won't have to play pretend.

    it makes NO difference if it's legal at state, and federal level PLUS you have a medical card for it.... NOPE No BON allows it...
