rn refresher course

I was a nurse for 15 years when i voluntarily surrendered my license after receiving a felony dui. Recently, I visited with the board of nursing in Texas to get my license reinstated. They informed me that i would need to take a refresher course which includes a 80 hour clinical in order to get my license back. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this. I live in the Dallas, Fort Worth area. What refresher courses do you recommend??? Please help!! I have no idea where to start.

I would call any local colleges, universities, for-profit nursing schools to see if they offer a refresher course.

Tarrant community college used to have one. Try checking with them.

I live in Texas too and my understanding is that the courses have to be recommended by the BON. They want the courses to fit your situation and the provider has to be approved by them. Look at the BON website and then write the webmaster if needed.

Welcome to the Texas Board of Nursing Website

There is also a refresher course through Austin Community College in association with multiple other community colleges throughout the state. The didactic portion is completed online with the clinical component arranged through your local community college.

I took a refresher course at Methodist Hospital in Dallas around 4-5 years ago I think the program is still active

OP, I sent you a PM.
