Hello everyone,
I was curious about rescheduling the CRNE exam this coming Oct. 5th. I'm getting really nervous and do not feel ready for the exam at all. I was told that since the deadline to reschedule has been passed that they would keep 50%!! of the examination fee. I don't have the extra cash to pay the transfer to the next exam date.
I was wondering (for those who have taken the exam previously) on the actual exam date (i.e. Oct 6/10 or June 1/11) if they asked exam takers that if they didn't feel like taking the test they could leave and there wouldn't be any excess charge to reschedule.
I've taken the exam in June 1st and failed. I was pushed into taking it again knowing I wasn't ready to take it again right after. I would like to confirm that they ask this question every time you take the test.
Thank you very much for your feedback.

Just FYI, you only get the 50% refund before or on the seventh day prior to the exam. Therefore, if you wait till October 5th and decide not to write then you wouldn't get any money back. Once you sit down to write the exam, this is considered an attempt, so anytime before that you can leave. You should perhaps consider why you feel unprepared, is it anxiety or is it because you have not appropriately studied? Personally, if I didn't feel ready, I wouldn't write it regardless of the money. I don't think that 250.00 dollars is worth feeling unprepared and failing. Make sure you have all your ducks in a row so to speak before you write again... I wish you all the best!!

Seriously, a better question is "why do you feel unprepared to write the exam?"
You've got your degree, you finished your clinical time, in what way do you feel unprepared?

hey, i m feeling the same way and just rescheduled my exam. If you are not ready, then don't take it on Oct
Thanks for the information. The person I called didn't give very good information regarding the details of rescheduling. I guess it doesn't matter regardless of the money.
Frankly, I believe it's more of an anxiety issue and want to make sure to get all my ducks in a row first before I take it again. I was flustered finding out I had failed and as a result, didn't really know how to get back on my feet. I don't want to set myself up for another failure. I want to build my confidence for sure so I ensure a win.
Thanks again for your comment.

It's not a matter of getting your degree and clinical time. Going through school doesn't guarantee your pass in the CRNE. It's more of a psychological issue I suppose. Failure can hit a person hard.
Oh thanks for the comment. Glad to hear I'm not alone.
I can definitely understand how a failure would shake your confidence for this upcoming exam. If you feel that you have studied really hard and know your material, then I am sure you will do great. Take your last failure as a learning opportunity to kick butt this time. I am sure that everyone has some anxiety before writing this exam (I know I do).
But if it is more of a case that you feel you need more time, then wait awhile and don't take it until you are absolutely prepared.
Do whatever you feel is best for you!

The Colleges' websites all have some sort of information regarding how and when you may reschedule the exam without penalty. In general, it must be done within 30 days of the original registration to write, or in the case of BC, before the registration deadline; any time after that and there's a cancellation fee. Most provinces also have a withdrawal deadline that is typically 7 days before the exam date.
