I am looking for some advice. I still haven't received my RN results from the CNO, I live in the Maple/Vaughan area (about 40 minutes from Toronto). Everyone who lives around me has received their results about 6 days ago. I am wondering if it could have gotten lost or something?? I don't want to bother the CNO unless I am absolutely certain that it isn't coming though. Is it too short of a time to contact the CNO, should I wait, or call them?? Thanks!

If you are going to reapply for nursing school again, I think it is important for you to assess why you felt overwhelmed and what will change next year. Try to consider how you will set yourself up for success. Any readmission will probably require you to explain what happened this year and how you are going to fix it. To be honest, nursing school is an extremely overwhelming experience and you really need time managements skills and organization. Nursing school really isn't about how smart you are, it is about how much you put into it and how you manage your time. I am not saying that you didn't put in enough effort, but I would hate for you to end up in this situation again next year. Good luck, I wish you all the best for your future endeavors.

Although it may feel as though you are learning things too in depth, the reality is you need those skills for future practice. As you advance in your practice, you will be able to complete a through assessment in a shorter period of time and be able to combine assessments with other necessary tasks. You also shouldn't compare how a physician completes an assessment versus how you were taught, since you have a much different scope of practice. Learn as much as you can and I am sure you will be successful!

The second entry program and the 4 year nursing program were both offered at the school I attended in Ontario. I personally opted to complete the 4 year BScN program, but I had some classes with the second entry program individuals and became close friends with many of them. They were required to complete EVERY nursing course that we were, and they had the EXACT same time in the clinical settings. The main differences was that they went through the summers and they were exempted from the electives, statistics, or anatomy and physiology courses since they had previously completed them with another degree. Obviously, this route is extremely compact, stressful and difficult. Yet, I know numerous nurses who went this route that were successful and excelled in the clinical setting.

Just as previous posters have stated that three attempts is a fair standard that has been set by the CNA, the current standard is that an individual who has achieved a BScN and failed three times is allowed to attempt the RPN exam. I can understand why some would be irritated but such is life. Let's move on! PPAA- I wouldn't get ahead of yourself just yet. You don't know if you have passed or failed. But I have a friend who just completed a bachelor of arts and is about to go to school to become an Occupational Therapist, it has very similar pay to an RN.. It is approximately a full year apparently. This may be a good option, you can still be in the health care field without being a nurse. I wish you all the best!

Hello everyone who wrote yesterday! I just wanted input about how people felt about the exam. Harder, easier, or different than expected?? Personally, I felt that there were some questions in which I had no clue what the answer was. Good luck everyone! I cannot wait to get those results back.

I can definitely understand how a failure would shake your confidence for this upcoming exam. If you feel that you have studied really hard and know your material, then I am sure you will do great. Take your last failure as a learning opportunity to kick butt this time. I am sure that everyone has some anxiety before writing this exam (I know I do). But if it is more of a case that you feel you need more time, then wait awhile and don't take it until you are absolutely prepared. Do whatever you feel is best for you!

Just FYI, you only get the 50% refund before or on the seventh day prior to the exam. Therefore, if you wait till October 5th and decide not to write then you wouldn't get any money back. Once you sit down to write the exam, this is considered an attempt, so anytime before that you can leave. You should perhaps consider why you feel unprepared, is it anxiety or is it because you have not appropriately studied? Personally, if I didn't feel ready, I wouldn't write it regardless of the money. I don't think that 250.00 dollars is worth feeling unprepared and failing. Make sure you have all your ducks in a row so to speak before you write again... I wish you all the best!!

i don't think that it has anything to do with loyalty, rather that experience is the expectation for employment. this is the reality of the job market.

I think that you are putting yourself in a position that you really don't want to be in. You seem like a hard working student and it would be a shame for any instructor or professor to question the integrity of your work. I understand that your friend is putting you in a awkward position but a real friend would not want you to put you in this situation. Next time he asks to see your work, just explain that you are not comfortable doing that and move on. Also perhaps tell him where you were able to find your references and recommend that he uses those to complete his assignments rather than you.

I am just wondering if anyone has taken the Coronary Care Nursing Certificate at Humber College. I am interested in finding out the amount of time per week this would take, if it is possible to have a full time job with it, the approximate costs, and how much the rnao would covers. I am really interested in pursuing cardiac/telemetry nursing so any feedback about working on such a floor would be great to hear about as well. Thanks!
